I'm not sure if this promotion is still going but it was in early October when I was in Vegas. They pay 3-1 on Blackjacks all day Friday up to $10 and 3-2 on bets in excess of $10. So if you bet $10 and get Blackjack they pay $30.
All other rules are "normal" --- double deck, Split any time, DAS, Resplit Aces. No Surrender and Dealer hits 17.
A good deal for most BlackJack Players.

Are you sure you weren't thinking of this?
This not the same as paying 3:1 on all blackjacks. I find it very hard to believe any casino would do that. Even at a $10 maximum, a basic strategy player would stand to win about $40 an hour. There would be a line out the door.

The 3-1 BJ is reported in Anthony Curtis's November newsletter.

Well clearly those huge payouts are just for when you match the bonus chip. There is no way to know how often that bonus chip is doled out. If the chip only comes once an hour that is not that much money. Still it is something and could make you drive to this out of the way casino.

That line out the door is what the casino wants, but they want to merely offer the illusion of a bargain.Quote: teddysThis not the same as paying 3:1 on all blackjacks. Even at a $10 maximum, a basic strategy player would stand to win about $40 an hour. There would be a line out the door.
Whatever the value of the promotion, if its solely from 5 to 7pm all it really would do is make the tables fill up well before 5:00pm and all those who were clamoring for the supposed bargain would probably have to show up real early.

The significant factor is that it is not for every play but just when the bonus chip is drawn. They are doling them out at their own rate. Plus it is only for matching the chip so it limits the amount of play. I don't think this promotion is costing them very much.

Sorry for the confusion. The thing I linked to is not the promotion we were discussing initially. Apparently, they had a promotion where they payed a pure 3-1 on blackjacks on Fridays, no other strings attached. It lasted for about a month-and-a-half, from what I understand.
