So how long do you think it's generally safe to play at a casino without getting backed off or banned? I'm not looking to do this for a living, just don't want to lose more money than I have to while my wife plays the slots lol.
El Cortez is notoriously sweaty -- one of the sweatiest if not THE sweatiest casino in LV.
If you're spreading 5-20 on a DD game, you should be able to play for quite a while. If you spread 5-15 or perhaps even 5-10, you'll have a small win.
Quote: RSAll depends on game, rules, stakes, sweatiness of casino, etc.

On the GwaE podcast they had a story where they would send new guys they were training for BJ teams to the El Cortez telling them they needed to see them play live. The real test was too see how they react getting trespassed or backed from a table and to remove the jitters from being backed for the first time.

That's actually pretty smart.
Quote: socksThere was one (apparently) successful gambler on the Bob Dancer show last summer (June? July?) who had a rather heterodox opinion here. He simply played long sessions and didn't worry about it. He did various things that probably helped him get away with it like bringing the pitt bosses food on occasion.
Are you talking about smallcapgrowth? Yeah, that's what his style of attack was. But -- he also sought out tolerant casinos, which usually meant poor games. In other words, he wouldn't be playing the game with 0.5 out of 6 decks cut off, S17 with LS. He'd be playing the games with 2 or 2.5 decks cut off, H17 without LS.
So, maybe you can make $1500/hour on that good 5.5/6 S17 LS game, but can only play a short period of time. Or play the sh***y game, make $500/hour, but be able to play all day long.
But, it really comes down to how tolerant the store is.
They've never asked me to leave, so that is prolly true ;-(....(I'm sad now;-)Quote: bklounge87If you're losing, they'll let you sit there all day long :)
Think I've been watched closely a few times though ;-)

Yeah, I have never been backed off, although I believe on once occasion I was on the verge of being backed off. I was up over $2000 at a $25 table, I saw some stirring in the pit, the pit boss tapped the dealer on the shoulder and had someone relieve her. I also noticed about 4 sets of eyes watching me, so I colored up and got the hell out of there.
Funny story, the pit boss who was eyeing me like crazy, later came into my dealership and I sold her a 2015 Subaru Forester.

Spreading 5-20 on DD? I thought you could get away with that on a shoe game.
DD is lower HE so wouldnt the powers that be sweat that game more than a shoe game?
I believe (my interpretation) is that he's taking this in literal dollars... So when he says 5-20, he means $5-$20... which would be a 1-4 spread.Quote: gavSpreading 5-20 on DD? I thought you could get away with that on a shoe game.

Not always true. Lots of us have been backed off when losing.

Can confirm.
Alright, I will consider this a challenge going forward, though it was not originally posted that way. I will, as a fairly consistent loser, see if I can get myself 'backed-off, flat betted, or 86'd." Someone(s) should maybe wager on this. I promise, and a promise is a promise, no collusion.Quote: DRichNot always true. Lots of us have been backed off when losing.

Yes, it was smallcap.
He discussed his methods on ep. #224, June 23rd, on Bob Dancer's show.

Not necessarily, been backed off while losing several times.
It is about moving you money with the count!
And, if you are an advantage player then table sessions should be less than an hour unless you have overriding information about their tolerance. Most likely scenario for getting backed off is pit sees one or more of your plays that look "suspicious", pit calls surveillance and request they monitor your play, surveillance either watches you play or runs back the tape on your play so for to determine if you are moving the money with the count. That usually requires about 45-60 minutes.
Keep this in mind. When you see the pit go to the phone, watch his eyes and see if he glances at you while talking, if so you need to leave, NOW!
Happy hunting!

I would have to disagree after being 86ed while being down about $120. Perhaps they were factoring in the cost of feeding me grey goose and tonics while at the table...
If they asked you to leave while down only $120, however many Geese you drank, they may have been trying to do you a favor ;-). If I was a sneaky casino type operation, I think I'd watch the variance bounce around till I had 10 times that much of your money, at least. Then I'd ask you leave....Quote: ExcursionI would have to disagree after being 86ed while being down about $120.
