In July 2014 I was in LV to attend a convention, which was headquartered at the MGM. I soon discovered the Hooter's across the street, where I could get a burger for under $10 and they even had 2-for-1 drinks at happy hour. It became my exclusive place to eat, because everything at the MGM was so expensive. But more to the point of this thread, they also had a single BJ table with a min of $5. After doing the tourist thing and visiting a couple of other places on the strip, I realized how rare the $5 table was.
I didn't see Hooter's mentioned in the list at the beginning of the thread. Is it still there? Did they do away with the $5 table? Any update on this place?
First of all, do you remember if blackjack paid 2-1 at this table? I have a feeling there's plenty of "cheap blackjack" on the Strip, but blackjacks almost always pay 6-5 there. (It's been that way for just about every single-deck and double-deck game on the Strip for the past, what, ten years?)
Second, if you want to get pedantic, Hooters isn't "on the Strip" any more than the Westgate is. "On the Strip" usually means "you can walk in directly from Las Vegas Boulevard, from the Stratosphere to Mandalay Bay."
I don't remember what it paid, to be honest. And as for "on the strip" I didn't realize what it means to the locals. For an out-of-towner, anything on LV Blvd was the strip.
But their SD does pay 3:2, at least it did last time I was in that dump.

I am far from a local (I live about halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento), but Hooters isn't on Las Vegas Boulevard; it's to the east of the Tropicana, which is.

Technically, sure. But the blackjack tables in the MGM are further from Las Vegas Boulevard than the ones in Hooters.

lol...my aching feet know the truth of that one. MGMGrand is just too big, especially if you're there for a convention and running back and forth.

Exactly. No need to get tripped up on technicalities. So just because a casino is located .5 miles off the strip, it shouldn't be considered as a place to go to when trying good blackjack on the strip? If that's the case, might as well take Ballys off the list, lol. Stratosphere and Mandalay Bay are on the strip. Try walking to those from wherever you are staying. I think you will have an easier time walking to Hooter's

Mandalay Bay is one of my favorite strip casinos to stay at because of the geography. You don't get a lot of those people just walking though Mandalay Bay during the middle of the day, just for something to do

Only if you are staggering like a drunk. The entire Hooters facility is farther from Las Vegas Boulevard than the entire MGM gaming area.
What is the current availability of 3:2 Blackjack at low limits such as $5, $10, or $10 in and around Vegas?
Not particularly bothered if they are CSM or countable games. Just looking for what might be available to a recreational player.

I'm a craps guy, but I do observe the BJ tables. You should find plenty of 3/2 off the strip. The Orleans, for example, as well as other Boyd properties, and Stations' properties also. Downtown is another good option...
Good old friendly harrahs was nice enough to have their entire 3:2 main floor pit closed on day shift. There may be 1 3:2 DD game for under $100 or there may be nothing 3:2 under $100.
If you don't count cards, but want to see what it's like to get backed off for counting, TI is as good a bet as any on the strip (south point probably actually even worse than el Cortez off strip). Just randomly make large bet changes, if you're lucky enough to win that'll probably do it.
