I've been on this forum for several years.
Very few here claim to be legit AP's excluding the Bac system posters and Dice influence posters which are AP wannabe's
I will admit that I am a guppy.
You really need to Live in Vegas to be an AP and most on this board don't live in Vegas.
So do the math, if most don't live in Vegas, well.
I would Imagine AP is a lone wolf thing.
If you found a way to AP and make a comfortable living, I would figure a smart person wont post it on a public board and kill the golden goose.
But regardless of that. please share your stories and advice, this guppy is all ears :-)

Some come for the swim...I come for the kill. But I know that "Spilling the Beans" and "Killing the Golden Goose" is stupid. I'm not saying to do that...I'm just saying to perhaps share advice and stories or lessons we've all learned along the way. Also a little intellectual disagreements wouldn't hurt either. BTW, I think your classification of dealers is far off the mark. Dolphins? Really? Maybe at the black chip tables, but down here with the other guppies pitching red chips they are (generally) clueless about basic strategy.

Some dealers are smart, but overall just there to deal me my cards and are harmless. (For the most part.)

Sounds quite lame actually.
Big players use strategies, not secrets, and hence aren't afraid to display such. Poker players on television, eg, relish the exposure. I have yet to visit any gambling forum which can boast of a single name player who's doing it. One of the sports betting forums has a guy who made millions on his own years ago guessing outcomes, but that's about it. The people doing it run in their own circles. For them, the internet holds no interest, incentive or sway.
Secretive play amounts to scams. Like presuming to re-stamp jewelry for quick sale out front. Ironically, many reasons the loud mouth people end up run out of town. The secrets soon get out, or were simply already re-discovered by others; and the number of casinos and strips becomes hopelessly finite.
More believable, the person who is more prone and able to converse in other than what is done for a living.
The nature of gambling forums. But it's still fun to watch people putting on masks to try to say what they're not saying.
"Everything was better years ago, you can't do that anymore," with each new generation of poster. Was it ever possible?

If you want to talk blackjack and blackjack only, there is one excellent forum that you can join and do exactly that. If you haven't found it, ask me when you return. Blackjack only and as deep as you want to go. No politics, no religion and almost no suspensions. These are serious members who don't sugarcoat and will never tell you what you want to hear.

Who told you this was an AP forum? I would characterize the majority of this forum's participants as intelligent, recreational gamblers who don't play with an edge, but who know the edge against them and strive to minimize it.
We have a few full-time APs (can be counted on one hand, I think), and their insight is generally very good and appreciated when it comes up. And we have several more "hobbyist" APs who look for edges on vacation or as a part-time pursuit. And the rest generally fall into the "intelligent, recreational" category mentioned first.
So if you reset your expectations, I think you'll find this a decent place for an AP to hang out. You'll be in the minority, but the math folks here are golden and will probably help you with a question if you need it, and are polite.
And if you want a forum full of APs, just head over to Wong's site. You have to pay, but it sounds like what you expected here.

That's pretty accurate. I have a boatload of respect for APs, but I wouldn't want to be one. However I want my recreational dollars to last. The best way to do that is to read and learn.
There's no ego involved; I'm not interested in AP play, so terms assigned to me (such as "ploppie") mean nothing. That's a word used among people who are foreign to me. You might as well say gaijin or haole. So what. But dropping in and dissing the place? That's crazy, man. It doesn't make sense.

I don't even think I amount to a guppy - but I sure love writing Trip Reports - feel free to block them if they are not up to your standards.
