Quote: BigJerI think it's been on there for a while. Anyway, what the Griffin guy Andy Anderson says that 'it's unfair that certain players are better is not fair to other players.' What a moron!
Thanks. I love watching a good gambling documentary.

Thanks, Scan. I just watched it. I had no idea this documentary was out there.
Yea he was certainly a pain in the ass. That's what said in an interview Imagine what he says privately.Quote: BigJerI think it's been on there for a while. Anyway, what the Griffin guy Andy Anderson says that 'it's unfair that certain players are better is not fair to other players.' What a moron!

Yea, he reminds of those kids in the park who would always demand a 20 pace running start because it wasn't fair if some other kid could run faster than them.
"It's not fair you can beat me because you are better and faster!"
LOL.
No his reasons were because he needs to sell his products(I doubt he believe that) its in his best interest to make it something unfair. He was sued.Quote: darkozYea, he reminds of those kids in the park who would always demand a 20 pace running start because it wasn't fair if some other kid could run faster than them.

There's also a documentary on you tube entitled Holy Rollers about a Christian card counting team. Very well done.
I heard a rumor they weren't so holy. But neither am I.Quote: GreasyjohnIt was cool when they showed the lights of the Strip and you saw the Frontier and Stardust marquees. But they also showed blackjack instruction where there was a split hand and they played the second split card first. And it goes without saying that any documentary about someone card counting for a week will end with the player being ahead.

Yes, it is so very not fair that one video poker player is much better at the game than another. But I guess that doesn't count since it works in the casino's favor.
Quote: JohnnyQJust watched it. It was entertaining and very interesting to see the interviews with Arnold Snyder, Andy Bloch, Tommy Hyland, etc. Copyrighted in 2003, but I think the content is still accurate. I thought the director, David Layton, did a nice job and it was fun to see how his 10 day experiment worked out.
I just watched it and agree with your comments. Arnold Snyder was always my favorite blackjack author. I enjoyed watching it and was surprised I wasn't aware it was out there. A must see for any one interested in card counting.
"Do you think that it's right if a math guy knows more and wins more than Tom? Well I don't!" ...lol Tom could study and better himself all the same? I really did enjoy hearing how casino profits are shrinking because of the supply of new casino's, yet how they chunk that even more to try to find the 1 in 100 that might make a few bucks off their game.

I's kind of funny, because as I was watching and heard Andy Anderson say those things, I too thought of PGDan. The exact same mentality. Obviously to those of us on the other side, this mentality is crazy. But I suspect most people, that don't have a dog in this fight would also find the notion that you are equating thinking to criminal activity as Andy Anderson and Griffin obviously do, quite ludicrous. Now PGDan usually stops short of that. He will say something to the effect that it is against house rules. Again, I think most objective observers, without a dog in this fight would still find that notion ridiculous.

Most people I talk to think it is bulls#$% that they can ban card counters from playing. I tend to think being able to ban counters is the only way to keep any playable games around. They could just make blackjacks pay even money and that would be that for counters.
Also, does anyone know when this was made? The video quality makes it look several years old, but Max Rubin looked more aged than I have ever seen him before (on the discovery channel gambling episodes I've seen, I've never met him) so that makes me think this video is fairly recent.
edit: Just googled, it was made in '05
