Does anyone know of a casino that deals its SD and DD BJ games from a shoe? If so, are the players able to handle the cards? I know this is becoming more common in places where dealers are unfamiliar with pitch procedures.

I know of a place in the hinterlands that doesn't deal DD from a shoe (deck in hand), but does deal it face up.
Players are not allowed to handle the cards. (This tells me that their game protection people are more worried about card marking than counters.)
It shouldn't matter if the cards are in a shoe or in hand - the question ought to be "are the player hands dealt face-up?"
May the cards fall in your favor.

You can't handle the cards, but this is accurate.
They also have a nice door they'll show you as soon as you win a non minimum bet =p.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I handled them when I was there a few weeks ago. I remember explicitly because I was there with another person who had only ever played face up before and was confused as to the signals. The dealers were not amused.

El Cortez is dealt face down and cards may be handled unless something changed recently.

I know of one casino that deals DD face up. Still handheld, though. I have never seen a SD/DD game dealt from a shoe.
By the way, I have never been to the El Cortez but it sounds like they are pretty serious about guarding against counters.
