I am under no obligation to play anywhere at all this weekend and, who knows, I might not…….but I probably will.
I will bid both SB and the Big R a farewell and see if I can gather any information/gossip about the future of each.
If I play, I will sprinkle in a trip report.
Wishing you al positive variance!!!
Quote: EvenBobSo you had no free room at Revel?
Nope - no host means no room.

Thanks Romes.
Anyone else in AC this weekend?

Anyone else in AC this weekend?
maybe Mario?
Quote: GWAEmaybe Mario?
That went over my head - who is Mario?
Have fun Ace!
Quote: BozSaid my Final fairwell to both last week. I actually felt bad at Showboat and for the employees. Their only crime is being part of a company that has too much exposure in AC. But for CZR closing it is the right decision and I dont know if anyone else without an established player base could make a go of it either.
Have fun Ace!
So did I. I had to get one last look at Showboat's single deck 6 to 5 blackjack shuffled after every hand. It's actually dealt from an ASM.
On Monday morning at 8AM Ultra Lounge and both adjacent blackjack pits at Revel were closed.

Vegas from now on? SLS?Quote: aceofspadesSo I am down here with some family and, considering I no longer have a host at Revel and never had a host at Showboat, I am staying with family through their host at SB.

Does that matter? You can get a host as soon as you start playing.
Sit down, buy in a for a few thousand, and tell the dealer "hey, this is my first time playing here; I don't have a host". The dealer will yell to the suit, the suit will get on the phone, and 2 minutes later a host will come by, give you his card, and tell you to call before you check out.
Sometimes they just come by without even asking.

I like to know I have a room booked before I fly to vegas

So book a room?
Are you worried that your new host won't take care of comping your room before you leave? At your level of play? No way. I don't see you paying for your room or your food any time soon.

I like to be spontaneous but don't want to fly by the seat of my pants heading to Vegas without shelter booked
Cheers,

If it doesn't work out I'm sure Axel has a couch :)
Seriously, though, just take your credit card and book a room on their web site. Before you leave, your new host will take care of it. What's the problem? I've done this before when playing at a new casino...
Full players lounge service
Slot tournaments still going on
Lol
1. Call up the reservation line, book a room.
2. Arrive. Check in. Charge all expenses to your room account.
3. Play. Request a host if one isn't offered to you. Play some more.
4. Before you check out, meet with host and ask to have charges "comped," or removed from your room bill. This includes the charges for the room itself, as well as meals, drinks, tickets, etc. If you played big enough, they might even reimburse your airfare.
Like Axiom says, what are you worried about? You book a room before you fly there. You're not flying there with no arranged shelter. Then you get the room comped after you play.
Last chance to leave a double decker at Revel. You'll probably open the lid and see someone beat you to it.Quote: aceofspadesUghh played my $15 match play on

That rumor started floating about 3 weeks ago, but nothing to support it.Quote: allinriverkingI heard today that Caesar's Entertainment is buying Revel, that's why they had to close the Showboat because they couldn't have both properties.. Does anybody know if this is true?
Plausible at best. They probably closed it because Horseshoe Maryland would cannibalise Atlantic City. A monopoly wasn't really a deal breaker necessarily but could have been. Will just have to wait and see.Quote: allinriverkingI heard today that Caesar's Entertainment is buying Revel, that's why they had to close the Showboat because they couldn't have both properties.. Played quarter WOF got back $13.50
When I used to have my betting system challenge one trick people would use is to negotiate all the details but leave the bet in question to be revealed at the very end, while assuring me it was a legal bet. After countless Emails, I would find out that the bet was to bet the pass or come in craps about a minute before a casino closed or a casino on a cruise ship left international waters.
If either the Revel or Showboat will keep the tables open right until a specified minute and second, then start making pass and come bets a few minutes before this deadline, as long as there is enough time for at least two more rolls. If the table closes with bets still on the table, then I would assume they would refund them. Pass and come bets have negative equity after the initial roll, so to get them back is a very good thing.
Of course, it is a huge long shot the casinos will close the game with active bets on the table. It would be terribly unfair to anybody with don't pass or don't come bets, which would have positive equity.
Quote: WizardThis is a little off topic, but I hate to start set another thread about the rash of casino closings in AC, so forgive me.

This trick is in the original Beyond Counting, I think.

From what I've seen and read, most of the time they will shut craps tables down quite early (half hour or more) to avoid any long rolls that may go over the closing time.

That's what they did in the past. All Atlantic City casinos were required to close at 4AM on weekdays and 6AM on weekends. They would reopen at 10AM. You should have seen the lines to get in!

Right, but as it stands now, I have comp rooms and food/bev credits at multiple properties that I enjoy - why not use those rather than "earn" them at a new place?
Quote: aceofspadesRight, but as it stands now, I have comp rooms and food/bev credits at multiple properties that I enjoy - why not use those rather than "earn" them at a new place?
If you're planning on playing anyway, there isn't much of a difference. Your level of play will "earn" you your room and food. So, whether it's comped up-front or not, you are still "earning" it during your trip.
If you are not planning on playing much then that's different, of course.

Well, if the room and food/bev is pursuant to a mailing and not through a host, then all it can cost me if I decide to not play is future mailings.

Right, exactly my point. If you plan not to play then it matters. Also, I find that with a good relationship with a host it's ok to play less sometimes. It's ok to be overcomped on certain trips, since you will almost certainly be undercomped on others.
But, if you do plan to play, then it makes no difference. Personally, I am planning on going and giving SLS some play to see what the mail is like. I'm hoping that while they are still fairly new they will be a bit more generous than average in an attempt to gain loyal customers.
