On trip to Blackhawk I read Bringing Down The House. What a fantasy tale. I mean in page 1 a player is talking about what's in his duffel bag under his chair. My first thought was if anything valuable was in it, I would have my leg thru a loop of it. Page 2 and security is enroute to bust him and he is wondering whether to tip or not ? And having a conversation with the dealer as he puts the backpack on and slowly backs away from the table.

So whats in the bag? $1,000,000 in one hundred dollar bills. Sure, I believe that. Especially as player explains he was so glad to escape without being backroomed where anything could happen. Of course the million dollars would be safe. What could possibly happen in the backroom. Or might the Feds be called. Maybe they did not think of that.

But then on page 6 a player has $500,000 in hundreds strapped to his body going thru airport security. And he is worried about being handcuffed in a room for 48 hours, money confiscated , a year in court to possibly get it back. I started to wonder if they had heard of
security boxes at banks ? Later in this fantasy book, they admit to having $400,000 in such boxes spread over Las Vegas. But had to ferry $500,000 from Boston to Vegas on weekends. What a crock.

A few pages later the super hero is introduces. A player named Kevin. He has been audited by IRS twice and proved his money was legally attained. And he has between 1 and 5 million dollars in one hundred dollar bills. Which he keeps in a closet next to his bed !!!
Sure he does. I mean where else would a person keep $5,000,000 in cash? ROFLMAO

By now I am looking for the super villain. There he is, the silver haired guy, head of Griffin like agency. 2 team members are winning over $22,000 in the Bahamas. One goes to bathroom and does not return for over 20 minutes. Other player goes to check and sees silver hair and 2 Bahamian thugs asking his buddy how much he is winning? He has been beaten up. What the hell they were doing the other 15 minutes is beyond me. What does the hero do ? He takes a mop handle, breaks a mirror, and threatens to sue the casino. The bad guys are terrified and leave immediately. Of course sign say bathroom is closed, no one either hears broken glass or ever comes to the rescue. 2 players wash up and have conversation before leaving the bathroom.

They figure they have been there 12 hours playing, but silver hair must have caught a flight for 10 hours after casino called him.

Sure they did and let them win while waiting for silver hair LOL

They don't consider this but do figure maybe a rat is on the team and go back to figure out who it is . and are sure silver hair was in Bahamas before them. Yeah, and I am sure he would let them win for 12 hours and could not figure out who the partners were and how much they were winning. What an absolute fantasy this book is.

Several players have said they never tipped and the strippers cashing chips never happened. But in the book after Tyson fight people stole chips and they had over $2000,000 in chips to cash. Somehow they decided the 5 or 6 team players could cash some, but they needed 4 strippers to cash $20,000 each. They paid the girls a few hundred dollars each. Sure, because strippers are always cashing in 20K in chips as tips for lap dances. And I mean 4 different strippers, and their associated or them could not figure out they could keep the money and tell the college kids to get lost.

Did MIT have a BJ team. Yeah. Do they win every year No Is this book more BULLSHIT than fact ? YEAH

I remember Dancer interviewing a member of the MIT team on GWAE. The guy said the book was half fantasy and the movie was total fantasy.

Hollywood scriptwriters know no bounds whatsoever and book editors don't care much about truth they care about sales.

Neither the movie nor the book were supposed to be accurate they were supposed to make money.

I started to read the book, but I found the writing style to be uninteresting. Couldn't not put it down.

There was so much that was illogical, even if one never played BJ. Flying with half a million again and again. $1,000,000 in cash in duffle bag. $5,000,000 in legal cash kept in the closet, and on and on !
