Question about 88 v 10 in Wizard of Macau

It is suggested to surrender 88 v 10. However I found EV of 88 v 10 are all greater than -0.5 no matter doubling after split is allowed or not.
And if dealer BJ only original bet is lost. Why is surrender the better option?

Because it's early surrender.
