I was looking at this page on Wizard of Odds:
https://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/appendix/1/
Reading the example given for 8,8 vs dealer 10 and trying to then follow the same returns for 7,7 vs dealer 7, I get:
Stand = -0.543150
Hit = -0.430930
Double= -0.878075
Split = -0.577584
From this it seems hitting gives you the best return per original dollar bet (according to the example given at the top). So why is that the Basic Strategy for this type of game rule says you should split !?
(Most of the Basic Strategy is explained away correctly but this one and a few others like 2,2 and 3,3 vs 7 don't add up as they should, what am I missing !?)

I think it's a typo as the same figures are in the columns under 9.
Personally I get (sorry the spreadsheet I have doesn't cater for resplit as I was only after the strategy, and if it's worth splitting the first time, it's worth re-splitting again, hence the advantage is even greater).
(a) Stand on 14 vs 7 = -0.475375
(b) Hit 14 vs 7 = -0.321282
(c) Split 7 (no resplit allowed) = -0.090501
(d) Double = -0.668135
(a) Stand on 14 vs 9 = -0.54314968
(b) Hit 14 vs 9 = -0.43092982
etc.

Busted... Correct is Hit 7-7 vs. 10, and Split 8-8 vs. 10.
Some people need to reimagine their thinking.

You're absolutely right. Thank you for the correction.

I see what the problem was now, I think the split 7,7 vs 7 number is now corrected (only), but the other numbers still have the same 7 and 9 columns. Hope it all gets fixed, I like the idea of knowing the amount of return you loose by deviating from basic strategy....
At my local casinos right now, I can't convince anyone to double down on their 11s against dealers 10 - they think I am absolutely crazy !!!

The column 7 and 9 on these tables are still the same (except for split 7,7 which was corrected), could you please correct the column 7 for all rows/tables.....thanks
