referring to this page....
3 questions....
1) is there another chart for when the dealer hits soft 17?
2) when the player has a total of 4 it says double against 15 and 16. what other way is there to get 4 (not A3) other than 2,2? and why would a player total of 4 be different than a player total of 5? arent you doubling either way knowing you cant possibly make a hand?
3) why are there no surrenders?

if you cant split 2,2 then you technically have 4.

But I can't think of a game that doesn't allow you to split. And Wiz says to split 2,2 vs 15 and 16, but only double a pair of 5s vs. certain totals. So in most games, you would split 2,2 vs. 15/16.
I'm guessing there is no surrender because he forgot to consider that option...no other idea.

ya i guess that makes sense. he just kept it simple rather than adding in Pd/Ph/Ps for split if allowed otherwise double/hit/stand although i think those mean split if double after split is allowed... so maybe it was just to not confuse the 2.

ya i wouldnt play a game that didnt allow split (unless there was some other dramatic EV booster). is there any way to ask for a new chart with the surrenders?

Many games have a limit to the number of splits.

That's a very specific game you almost never see, where you can see both of dealer's cards. However, the table does show different action for 2,2 (split), and a different overall strategy for A3 (though it shows double on both 15-16, it shows double on 13-14 as well specific to A3 rather than a total of 4 points, so I don't really know why all 3 are on there. The table does NOT say that it's only valid for the first 2 cards, so maybe that first line is correct for A2A or something. Although I don't know of any casinos any more that allow you to double on more than 2 cards, so maybe not.
I'm guessing since you almost never get to play the game, it's never mattered much to anybody before.

If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

You could ask the Wizard, I have no idea how long it took him to do the original.

Thank you for that reminder; I have not played BJ enough to reach a split limit. So there is a good reason to have the strategy for hard 4.

A2A would just be A2 or AA, in which you play the strategy for those. im guessing its just for when you arent allowed to split
