They were there to just get warm and do some gambling after a hard nights work. I enjoyed playing with them. They were all horrible players, and didn't understand my play decisions like hitting 16, or doubling soft 18. They thought I was nuts, but all was cool.

Vending machines take five dollar bills?
Quote: MakingBookI woke up early this morning (Sunday) and decided to hit the casino. Shortly after I sat down, 3 black guys came in together and joined me at the table. Each bought in for roughly $300- ALL with wrinkled, worn, $5 bills. It was really weird to see that many $5 bills spread out on the felt. It was obvious they were out all night selling drugs, and whatever drug they were selling- it cost $5 bucks.

On the few occasions that I've bought in with a lot of small bills I said they were my tips. When asked I said I was an exotic dancer and my stage name was Buck Nekked. You had to be there. :)

well the better ones do, yes.

The ones at Harrah's AC do...probably because a 12 oz can of soda is $2.50...

Every single time I mention somebody's race in post,
Black, Chinese, whatever, somebody will whine that
why did I have to mention race, its not relevant.
Thanks for being un-PC, I'm all for it.
Or as one Boxman said. Downtown you deal to crack users. On the Strip, you deal to Crack Sellers.
Quote: IbeatyouracesVery typical where I'm at.
Here to. Honestly, I love to play early saturday and sunday specifically for this reason. My life is easier when others are drawing attention.
Quote: FleaStiffSomebody mentioned a film known as The Croupier awhile ago. In it there is a discussion about how much drug money crosses the casinos tables and there is a brief depiction of a woman coming in, putting two large stacks on Black and Red and then cashing out her winnings at the cage to have a legitimate source of income.
hope she covered the green with a few chips

Just make sure they're not in the restroom:
"One man was arrested after an armed robbery at Resorts this morning. ... Police said Division of Gaming Enforcement is handling the investigation because it appears to have happened in a bathroom on the casino floor."
Well, they weren't that precise in the movie, so I think she just took the risk but its a UK movie so there is just one zero and they probably had that en prison rule or some such thing.Quote: sodawaterhope she covered the green with a few chips
Quote: BuzzardBack in the late 60's in Baltimore, after the riots, the Baltimore Sun newspaper would not mention a persons race when reporting a crime.
What was the point of reporting it before? That's like Prefectural Police not reporting race.

Next time you're near a group of Asians in the casino; count the number of times you hear the words "Gweilo," "Sei-Gweilo," "Gweipor," and "Sei-Gweipor." We're talking about you.

So do I have to google this or will you save me the time ?
Gweipo is the female variant.
Quote: P90Do you need to google "Merkin" or "Kraut"?
Gweipo is the female variant.
Does Merkin mean something other than what Google just showed me (note, probably NSFW)? While that was hilarious, I'm not sure how it relates to the issue of latent racism in society.
Quote: JohnnyQSo do I have to google this or will you save me the time ?
If you are Black, these words don't apply to you.

"American", of course.

There isn't anything latent about racism in Asia.
The best was when he bought in again for $22. He was getting slaughtered... well, we both were but I was counting, he wasn't. I lost $180, him, $800... I think the real difference was the $180 I lost was after taking $100 to $1,000. One of those stretches where the shoe didn't matter, if you had 18, dealer had 19, if you had 19, dealer 20, if you 20, dealer 21, if you had blackjack, dealer had the ace showing. Was so bad that at one point with maybe 2 decks left, the count was +12, I had 20, dealer was showing a 6, he flips a 10, then a 2 and then a 3.
As we remember MLK, let's remember that race isn't everything but it's sure fun to talk about and if we can laugh about our own racial particulars and not take ourselves too seriously nor judge somene based on the color of their skin, sexual preference, or religious freedoms, we'll all likely laugh and love a lot more and that wouldn't be such a bad thing.

ps I was frustrated by his martingale system but not nearly as frustrated as the old man who came in and hit when he had 14 against the dealer's 16... he busted, I stayed on my 19 and the dealer draws a 4...
I've had my fair share of those... Had on tonight playing DD.. +10 with 1 deck left... Dealer showed 5 once and a 6 twice... Made a hand each time... It moments like these that all I can do is laugh it off cause its just so unbelievable..Quote: SantaQOne of those stretches where the shoe didn't matter, if you had 18, dealer had 19, if you had 19, dealer 20, if you 20, dealer 21, if you had blackjack, dealer had the ace showing.

Why didn't you protest because he took a card on an 18? Or did you keep it to yourself and start playing table max?

Is "Gweilo" strictly Cantonese? That is what they call me on the streets of Hong Kong. I haven't noticed in in mainland China and haven't picked up on what they call me instead.

Since Mandarin is now the official dialect, you would be "Yáng Guǐzi."

One time Bob went into a casino a blew a goat.
You are welcome.
I myself tend to play up these stereotypes at the BJ/poker table just to mess around w/ the Caucasians, knowing that I am very far from what they perceive me as. In fact just last night, I told all the players I just got out of jail- just for the hell of it.
I myself tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, before I judge, anyways who I am to judge ?
In the famous words of MLK " content of character not the color of our skin ".
Quote: DonPedroIn this day and age I find it funny that we still have stereotypes, lol !!
Asians were the world's first racists. Even Hitler had to acknowledge us as "Ehrenarier."
At Tropicana a few years ago, a semi attractive, young black woman, with a very nice body sat at the $15 table in the last open spot. She had 30 One Dollar bills in her designer purse(don't know which one, don't care) and plopped those bills on the table. I say semi attractive because her face was no where near as nice as her body, guess you'd label her a "Butta Face."
The dealer who was a naive young man with thinning hair, rolled his eyes and gave me the " here comes trouble" expression. He tells her "You must be VERY good at your job to get all those tips! But I don't wanna take your night's pay, you sure you wanna play?"
She retorts "Look, I'm not some dumb stripper! I'm a waitress and this is just spare change for me, so how about YOU be good at YOUR job and deal the cards!"
To which the young dealer had no response, counted the bills, gave her 6 Red chips and dealt her a 20, then a blackjack, and then the shoe was over. She took her winnings and walked away without tipping him intentionally.
Point is, don't be color skewed and make bold assumptions. And if you do, you should probably keep it to yourself lest you offend someone.
P.S. - Don't know what quality drugs you could get for just $5, all my intel of the drug dealing world would tell me drug buys are usually in increments of $10.
Quote: BedWetterBetterPoint is, don't be color skewed and make bold assumptions. And if you do, you should probably keep it to yourself lest you offend someone.
If someone said they were offended by me saying "3 black guys", I'd probably tell them to blow me.

Hitler? Queen Victoria had to force opium onto the Asians whose racist attitudes caused them to want all the civilized world's hard currency and to buy nothing from the West in return for all those Chinese treasures. The Opium Wars the result of Oriental racism at the world level.
But racism and the world level has little significance to a casino in Las Vegas. The Dealer should Dummy Up and Deal, as always. The other players should follow their own game and keep socialization to a polite minimum.
Yes, indeed. Though there is often an undercurrent of distrust. In some circumstances there will be an assumption that a player is there to hoot and holler and fondle the dice rather than simply picking them up and rolling them.... much less rolling lots of good numbers.Quote: AyecarumbaIf you are rolling good numbers, everyone's your friend.

I have found that folks are happy to put up with fondling as long as their hardways are coming... Wait... What? hehe
I've stood next to all kinds of folks at the Craps table, and almost always have had a great time (smelly folks excluded). However, at the Blackjack table, it's a totally different vibe.
