AC trip: Copacabana

Well, the Copacabana is a reference to my getting tix for Barry Manilow for my mom and sis this weekend. I just arrived earlier this afternoon and played a session after dinner:
Session 1: Just as the dealer was about to deal the first hand to me, a woman from the next table yelled over her shoulder for the dealer not to deal - much to my surprise, as his hand was on the first card, he stopped and waited for her. She proceeded to bet one hand then two hands then three hands then one hand and so on and so on. It was quite dizzying and I decided to leave after losing the first 6 hands. I moved over to a new table and won the first 6 hands ALL with a total of 21 each hand (2 naturals). I am up $500 and going to bed...(having learned my lesson last week about not sleeping and not eating (EvenBob will be proud...I think?))

You should never play more than 5-6 hours a day,
never play when your tired and shortly after you've
eaten. You need concentration, and lack of sleep
and food digestion make you groggy. Thats 5-6
hours total for a day. You get weary playing more
than that and start making mistakes.

I'll be at Harrahs tomorrow night. Since I never put basic strateejery to memory, I'll have to be content playing Texas Hold'em Bonus if they still offer it.

And yet that same sequence by a dealer will cause you to go on tilt again if you are not careful.
NEVER make the same mistake twice. The first time is human frailty, the second is just plain STUPID !

As the Fonz would say "Exactamundo!" - and I normally never play more than 1 hour at a time - last's weekend's aberration taught me perhaps the most valuable lesson of my short gaming career.

AGREED!!! The grass is always greener when the 6 hands in a row of 21 come the player's way versus the dealer's.

Session 2 for the trip moments ago:
Began the session +575 for the trip
shoe #1 was the usual up and down, even count, nothing to write home about
shoe #2 got a bit better, but when the count went up, the dealer was helped by it lol so ended that shoe -1k
shoe #3 change in tables as a dealer I cannot beat (yes yes berate me now but, I have never beat him ever) - switched tables and got into a good count, pressed some bets - the 10's finally came my way in the positive count and not only got the 1k back, but another 1k on top of it
no crazy hands this time (which is nice for a change)
trip is +1k

Sat down with a friendly dealer I enjoy playing with...
first hand I had a 20, she had a 2 showing turns over a 6 for an 8 then 3 for 11 then 3 for 14 then Ace for 15 then 6 for 21 DAMN!!!
lost the next few hands as well, then hit a Blackjack then
dealt 8,8 versus dealer 7
split - dealt an 8
split dealt an 8
Hand 1: 8 dealt 2 double down dealt 3 = 13
Hand 2: 8 dealt K = 18
Hand 3: 8 dealt 7 hit 9 BUST
Hand 4: 8 dealt 9 = 17
Dealer 7 flips over 9 deals herself a Q = DEALER BUST!!!
Trip is +1500

After-dinner session:
Sat down to play a shoe and got a 9,2 on first hand versus dealer 4 upcard
doubled down and got a 3 (lol)
dealer won the hand and the next 5 after that
the count was semi-good by then and I ended up getting it back plus another 500

Session update:
Spent the early afternoon down the boardwalk where some friends in town wanted to play at the Taj...
Fast forward to late afternoon:
played 2 shoes up and down and left even
walked into the high limit room, won the first 5 hands and got up (yes, I am sticking to my 500 goal)
hung out with friends again
played another shoe for another 500 win in 8 hands
watched my dad make it to the finals of the BJ tournament where he came in 6th place for 500
had an amazing dinner and have sent my parents off to the Barry Manilow concert
I am taking a brief rest to digest and then hitting the tables
trip is +3500
