I work in a casino as a dealer and was very currious about one thing. During the blackjack small or normal action we have a procedure to cut at least one and a half deck from behind of the shoe, which means that about 50 cards will not affect the game. During the higher action or a high rollers action my pitboss advices me to cut deep and cut 3 decks to half of a shoue. Does it make difference? Is house edge better. Is there any benefit, because I dont see any. thank you for your answer.

The shallower the cut, or greater the penetration in to the shoe, the better it is for card counters.

Feel free to tell your boss she/he is a freaking idiot! Cutting 3 decks during higher
action results in more frequent shuffles, fewer hands per hour, and ultimately
less money for the casino.

How many cards are in a deck where you deal?

I agree. Golden gates casino returned BJ to the pits after a long absence. Just 3 tables back in a corner. 2 BJ and one let it ride.
Both Bj were double deck with kids right out of school dealing and a known idiot as the pit boss. He insisted cut card be inserted so that less than a full deck was dealt. Eager kids dealt even less cards.

I knew the pit boss when he dealt. A know-it-all jerk. How big an idiot was he? This was 5 years ago. Colorado max bet was $5 , which was BJ minimum at his tables. WTF ? More time spent shuffling than dealing. Surprise, 2 months later table games were gone.
