Statistically speaking is there any evidence that sloppy shuffling will help the house while hurting the player? If you are at a Blackjack table and you feel the dealer isn't shuffling the cards enough, can you ask them to reshuffle or is this a major casino faux pas? Thanks for advice!

It has been proven that sloppy shuffling (as in not shuffling enough) can actually be helpful to a player based upon the fact that the deck is not random.

You bring up an interesting question if a player can ask for a shuffle mid shoe. My guess is that it would be against company policy. Otherwise, whenever the count is bad, you would ask for a reshuffle.

I know that you can ask the craps stickman to "shuffle" the dice!

All places have policies concerning shuffles. Other than the obvious shuffles (end of shoe, drink spill, players off table), typically it is only the Pit Manager who can demand a shuffle. Some places are more lenient, and will allow "complimentary" requests. For instance, our high rollers are allowed one complimentary request per day. It's not advertised nor are they advised, but if they ask, that's the deal.

A random dude asking for one, for whatever reason, will probably be denied.

Very unlikely you'll be allowed to see the cards except when the table opens or they change the cards. I mean, think about it, even if they spread them face up, are you gonna notice missing cards? MAYBE on a single deck, but even then, they're not gonna do it.

I think it would be bad if the sloppy shuffle contained a slug of unshuffled cards and there were a team of shady characters sitting there waiting to take advantage of it. If some player actually thinks he witnessed some "bad window washing" he could indeed speak to the Pit about it. Surveillance won't be taking their eyes off that dealer all night long! Even if the Pit thinks the customer was imagining things.

Is there any combination that the house can make the shoe perpetually negative?

Make sure you knock it into the shoe =D Simply spilling it just makes you look like a tosser.
