My nephew and his girlfriend are currently in Vegas. She posted last night that she put $5 into a penny slot and won $600!! Then we just got another message that they have spent a total of $14 in penny slots and are now up over $1600!!!
I will be curious to see how much they come home with, since she carefully points out that SHE has won this while the "gambler" is down $200 playing poker.

Women get such incredible delight in pointing out their big wins without any knowledge of probability. I'm sorry if that sounds sexist.
On the other hand, I have known men that brag about making money on pyramid schemes. They simply don't understand why these "games" are illegal.

My wife hit 1300.00 on a penny slot machine awhile back which is really a treat for her. I have gotten her into vp play awhile back and she plays on a fairly regular basis when we go to the casinos. Hitting any big jackpot on a penny slots is something to cherish knowing you really beat the big odds.

There is a time old saying that holds true throughout the ages. " I would rather be lucky then smart". If everytime I went to a casino I won tons of money without any effort other then dropping coins into a machine over sitting at a table plodding along for hours I would be rich.

Casinos use penny slots to keep the low rollers happy--and broke. Several years ago the local casinos, especially Sam's Town, advertised a new crop of penny video poker and wheel of fortune machines. But when I took a look at them the WoF machine took 1-300 credits and the vp machines took 1-100 credits. And typical of penny vp, the pay tables were the worst in the casino. Whereas the quarter player would get 8/5BP, the 100-credit penny player would get 6/5. But, penny slots seem to continue to be very popular.

I don't know about you but stuffing a dollar or two once in great while and hitting a two or three hundred dollars payoff is pretty good. I have done it for laughs on occasion and it's funny to sit at a penny slot machine for what seems like twenty minutes waiting for the machine to stop mounting credits. I did it not once but twice and spent a long time waiting to recieve my payoffs of hundreds of dollars for a dollar in. I have always told people if you play penny slots don't play anything but maximum bets for the progressive or don't play at all.
