I had a client meeting canceled this evening, so I had some time to kill on my way home from work. I'm busy this weekend, so I decided to go to the casino to use my weekly free slot play. I don't play slots much at all, other than to play off the promo $$ and in a few very specific advantaged situations. I don't even know why they give me free slot play, since all I play there for $$ is blackjack. Anyway, I went in with my players card, ID, and one credit card. No cash, no check card. I was only going to play off the free money and then head home.

I got to Mystic Lake (Prior Lake, MN) at about 5pm. I found a top dollar machine, downloaded my $40 free play, and decided to give it one spin at 20 lines x $2/line. I hit 4 triple bars, which basically had the effect of turning my $40 of forced play to $40 of cash. At that point, I almost left happily but I noticed that one of the banks of Mystic Money Madness machines had a mini jackpot that was about to hit guaranteed for >$73 ($25-$75, no specific bet required to win). I sat down, put in my $40 ticket, and started playing 1 line x $.02/line. I hit the mini jackpot for $74.12 about 10 minutes later (I was down about $.80 by then.) So then I was up about $113.

I was at the casino a little longer than I'd planned, so I decided to make an evening of it. I took a break for dinner (comped), then hit up my favorite bank of slots- Invaders from the Planet Moolah in a Monopoly Big Event bank. It's the only one I can stomach without some sort of advantage working for me. I put in my $113 ticket, and started playing 20 lines + bonus x $.06/line. I don't know how to describe what happened except to say that the machine malfunctioned. Right after I sat down, it awarded a 20 free-spin bonus without first hitting the required number of cascading wins (it was awarded after a loss). It retriggered 3 times for a total of 41 free spins. Coming out of the free spins, it super-charged my bonus multiplier, and I had a 15x multiplier when the Big Event hit. It was the Railroad Riches bonus. Between the free games and the bonus, I was up $130 and change. I saw a friend (a dealer from Canterbury Park) playing the Gems Wild Tiles slots. I sat with her for about 3 minutes, and spun through a few reels of 20 lines x $.10/line. On my last game, I hit 5 diamonds with a 5 times multiplier that also cleared a bonus row. After the bonus, I was up about $90 net on the Wild Tiles game ($333 for the evening).

My friend had told me that there was a silent auction and celebrity poker tournament at Canterbury tonight. I decided to go there to see what was going on (it's about 4 miles from Mystic Lake, and on the way home). As I was leaving Mystic, I put $100 into a 5 line $1...ummm...I forget the actual name...Pharoah's something-or-other machine with a $313K progressive jackpot. On my second spin, I won $150 (up $473 for the evening). I had an interesting discussion with the guy playing the next machine (see related post) before I left.

At Canterbury, there really was a silent auction. It had some interesting items, but most were bid above their fair value. One that wasn't was a year's supply of Wheaties. I think that would have to be bid on as a gift for a foe, right?
I played Pai Gow Poker for about 90 minutes at $15/hand. I was getting pretty well creamed, and on ridiculous things. My AA/KK887 actually lost to the dealers AA/23456 at one point. I almost never play the bonus, but the dealer gave me good advice (I think, see related post) and I wanted to tip. He asked me to tip the bonus, and I had to play it to tip it, so I put $5 on the fortune. I got a straight flush with no top! I pushed the hand but the bonus was worth $250, which brought me up to my $587 net profit for the evening.

I was so unbelievably lucky at literally everything I tried, I couldn't see my way past investing the $7 in lotto tickets. $87MM on the line tonight!

Congratulations on your good luck!

I had some better luck this afternoon, too. I went to a nearby casino that I rarely visit; they don't know me there. I bought in for only $100 and did not show my players card. I bet $5 PL and two come bets with 3-4-5x odds. I won a couple right away and never had to get more money out. I cashed out for $450 after playing for about an hour.

I had almost forgotten how fun craps could be!

I hit 3 white balls on ticket #4, and won $7 (broke even). I was so lucky yesterday that i didn't even lose at the lottery.

Good for you! Glad to see that your amazingly bad luck has, at least temporarily, gone away.
