Your friend gives you $20 to play in the machines and you are lucky enough to hit the jackpot....what would you do?

Um, what?
Quote: mickeycrimmMy ex girlfriend, Delsa the ex stripper, would keep the whole thing and expect me to pay for her next gambling session.
My kind of woman. Do you ever miss her ?
Quote: AxelWolfI think we need Lem66's opinion on this so we can understand best what one should do.
I can tell you what he'd probably say:
REVENGE!!!
;)
Quote: AxelWolfPerhaps you could avoid splitting it, with the primes you are doing that person a favor, by not involving them in the winnings. Explain to them the curse of Megabucks and apply it for this jackpot.
They will thank you...
After they drag you through court, get at least 1/3 of the jackpot (amount before taxes and before the lawyer's fees), and they experience the curse for themselves :)
Out of curiosity, would the casino split the payout and provide 2 tax/withholding forms, or must the person who inserted the money and pulled the handle be the only payee?
In the US, there is a form that you can fill out to assign gambling winnings to another person (they have to agree, of course, which would be a prerequisite to giving them the money)
Quote: kewljBottom line, they were probably paying the blood sucking lawyers (no offense AoS) half their money.
Ace sucks checkbooks and not blood, thank
you..

You don't like pro bono work?
Quote: coilmanYou get invited to go out with a friend to play slots for a bit and enjoy lunch together.

I'd give back the $20 and keep the rest, and that is generous: there is no requirement to repay a gift, and under the facts as you described them no constructive trust, implied partnership or similar argument should succeed to warrant a different result.
How long do you keep friends or do they all need to be masochists?Quote: MrVI'd give back the $20 and keep the rest, and that is generous: there is no requirement to repay a gift, and under the facts as you described them no constructive trust, implied partnership or similar argument should succeed to warrant a different result.
Oh the slot attendants wear red vests ..... he said she had to hit the ATM to get them that amount. I replied she shouldn't have tipped a dime since they were taking 4 days to validate the win ...who knows they might find something wrong and void the win.... he replied that true
Quote: coilmanStopped in at this casino the other day .... saw a buddy who works there in Security and asked if he was working the night of the BIG WIN? He said he was and watched the lady pacing back and forth, in and out the door. Phone call after phone call. Next he says the people in the RED JACKETS were not impressed she only tipped them $170 !!!!

so no matter what you give the attendants in tips, they are going to complain. what's the point of tipping?
Yes. I belief that. Many women indeed have cash registers rather than hearts. You touch any of her money, however, and you will get a stiletto heel right through your hand.Quote: mickeycrimmMy ex girlfriend, Delsa the ex stripper, would keep the whole thing and expect me to pay for her next gambling session.
In reality a good many people have informal agreements before they start but such agreements usually go by the wayside when one of the group hits it really big. My advice would be to make it a formal written agreement or else do not have any agreement.
Would I share it? Yes, with a good number of people. Would I feel any necessity to share it with the donor? Depends on the situation. In Hard Eights, was there a return of that One Dollar spend on a drink? Was there an Agreement?
