I spent friday night at the casino, running through free slot play and enjoying a nice lively blackjack table. While I was there, there were drawings every half hour to spin a giant wheel and win a prize (either cash or free slot play). I did not win. I have never won.
I was back at the casino on Sunday for a round of golf and lunch. My playing partner wanted to play the slot machines in the hotel lobby (next to the restaurant), so I sat with her and played a bit. At the end of our 30 minute session, I checked my cashback comp balance to determine if I could use my balance to offset the cost of our meal. My earned comps (cashback) balance was $5.62. Not what I was looking for there. But my free slot play balance was $800. I had just drained that account to 0 on Friday.
I called my host right away to tell her about the mistake, figuring that they'd somehow credited my account instead of the account of one of the winners from the wheel promotion on friday night. My host told me that they'd already made things right with the person who didn't get their winnings, and that I could keep the $800 of free play for my honesty.
After playing through my $800 of free play, I came out with $560. Sweet!!

Now that is excellent customer service! Heck if the host had given you a free dinner or $100 of free play, I would have thought that would be fantastic. Good job host!

At Mystic. I never did make it to Canterbury this weekend. Someone else will have to win my $10K, I guess...

I would've played through the $800 immediately and cashed it out.
At that point they can't take it back, and even if they figured out what happened they'd most likely drop the issue. Legally it'd be pretty damn tough for them to get it back, and they wouldn't dock your future comps till it's paid back because that would just make you go to play at a different casino

If you're smart, you'll get a $50 gift card, write a personal thank you note to your host, and enclose them both in an envelope labled "Personal & Confidential". It's against the rules to tip your host in cash, but not with a gift card. You would be surprised how a small gesture like this can go a long way toward future good will.

The best comp I have ever gotten while playing was a "thank you have a nice day" plus the drinks! Aria has good coffee they give away if anyone is interested. I guess this is a comp, but I finally got a free room offer from Harrah's Las Vegas, I'm taking it! 2 free nights in August and entry into some silly video poker tournament I will do for fun! Well I guess its an offer not necessarily a comp, I did get $15 a night at Harrahs reno with two free buffets(it was horrible I had one plate and left, I missed a high school production of Dreamgirls in Sammy's show room to go to the buffet, ugh!) What kinds of comps have other people gotten?
