2 years ago I thought VP was dumb. Then I realized that it is one of the best bets in the house if you are lucky to have good machines. Unfortunately in PA I am stuck with 8/5 JOB but it still better than playing wizard of oz. I wanted to play a little higher than quarters but I can not afford too so I came up with a little system. I put in $100 plus my $40 free play. I play $0.50 until I am under $100, then I play $0.25. If I get over $100 I go back to $0.50. If I am over $200 I play $1. I play until I am at $300 or 90 minutes has elapsed.
I was at nearly 200k hands in 2 years without a royal until this one on 09/01/13
Then today, 5,000 hands later I get another one. I just started my system this month and so far I am extremely happy with it.

I get something a bit more likely on the draw:
(4/47 * 3/46 * 2/45 * 1/44) = 0.0000056064810921425175 = 1/0.0000056064810921425175 = 1 in 178,365
Of course, IBeatYourAces could be referring to being dealt only a single card to a Royal, having holding it be the optimal play, THEN drawing the other four for the RF, as opposed to just drawing the four needed for the RF.

My playing partner, who handles all of our machine play has hit 4 royals this year. Two back in February, 3 days apart and two earlier this month, 4 spins apart. Yes, 4 spins apart! After hitting the first royal, and waiting for the attendant to return with his Id, ss card and cash, he moved to the next machine and on the third spin hit another. For something with 1 in 40,000 chance of occurance, it is amazing how these things can happen. You never know when the VP gods are smiling on you. :-)

I know when they're smiling on me, and the answer is never.
I guess one exception is VideoPoker.com last week. Double Double Bonus, held four to a gutshot straight flush draw and hit, then seven hands later, I was dealt Quad 4's with a Deuce kicker. Shame none of that seems to carry over to real life...

Djtac. has hit 5-7 royals in a cycle.....Good thing cus EvenBob suggested moving to Vegas to AP would lead him to a homeless shelter. Bob lit up like a Christmas candle when DJ mentioned he was back in Washington, Bob though it was due to failure. Dj , just needed to drop off some cash under his childhood mattress.

Yeah this is right on the draw. On the deal, it's probably closer to 1 in a million.
I hit my ~8th play money royal of the year on Thursday drawing 3 (at least 5 are on 50/100 play games though). Still royalless for real money since Sept. 2012, meh. I did win $12 and met up with a poker forum buddy in Hammond, IN today (WSOP circuit event), so could be worse I suppose.

I think so. I haven't read a post calling it off...haha
Hell when I met him, he was playing a vp machine worse than 6 to 5 BJ. Maybe I should have tried to claim the bounty... :P But he did get me a "free beer" at least. :)

I haven't played craps at all in a long time!!!

Even worse I hit 4OAK low kicker on deuces. That means I didn't even get 125 credits, only 20 :(

I jump back and forth between DDB and JOB. I like DDB better because of the A and 2 with kicker pays but I have the variance with the game so I play both. Yesterday I had 4 4oaks and 3 of them were either A or 2 but all 4 were on JOB.

Sorry, I missed some details along the way, but I noticed dj's ebullient blog post just recently.
When Bob made the prediction, was he aware that dj has the ability to hit royals at unsustainable rates?

I'm very good about doing this as well. Also hitting AWAK on Deuces Wild. My last trip to Tunica was a bit of an odd exception. I wrote up a report to that...I should post it...haha

I had an incredible session today. At least by my standards. I went to the casino on a Wednesday only because they had a drawing for anyone who received a taxable jackpot. My last royal gave me an entry. When they hand paid me they gave me a scratch off card that had free play on it and there were 30 people chosen and you received 10x the amount of your card. You had to be present to win. I figured this would be a good promo because how many taxables could there be in a month. Well let me tell you. There were probably 5000 tickets in this drum. The called 5 names each hour and then the last drawing had 10 names. Since you had to be there to win they gave the people 5 min to show and called more names in place of the missing people. All told they called 171 names to get the 30 people. They called so many rounds of names that the 9pm drawing lasted until 10:30. The final drawing went until midnight. Towards the end they were literally giving the people 1 min to claim their prize. I of course did not get chosen but my scratch off had $100 free play.
So anyways, I put in a $5 plus the free play. I ended up with a profit of $500 and got over 4000 points ($1 a point) which is ton for me. Hopefully my December mailer will be really good since I have close to 10000 points this month.
I played .25 JOB and DDB with a little .50 after I won some.
I ended up with no Royals but I did have:
4 aces with a kicker on DDB
4 twos on DDB no kicker
4 aces on DDB no kicker
4 kings on DDB
and 5 other 4Oaks on JOB
All of the 4oaks were with .25

Wow...good scratchoff! And I am not shocked with 5000 in a month in a fairly busy casino. That's only about 7 hand pays per hour. There are a lot of addicts out there dude.

Yeah I guess I was shocked because this was only my 2nd taxable ever and I don't see many when I am there. Although I am only there about 10 of the 720 hours in a month and the place has nearly 4000 slots.

Another really good day today. I did my system and while using my free play I got a 4oak at .50 on ddb. Then I played dollars for over an hour. About 5 hands after I went back to .50 I hit 4 aces no kicker on ddb. I played almost 4 hours and made $450. This last month has been insane for me. After hitting 4oak on dollars and aces on .50 it kinda took the thrill out of playing quarters.

That and adding up winning amounts on 50c/$1 is much easier. Half it for 50c, and whatever you win on dollars is what you win.

lol yeah. When I got a 4oak on DDB on dollars. It took me a sec to realize I just won 250 dollars and not just 250 credits.

Here are my stats since Oct. 1 for VP. I don't keep tract separately for .25/.50/$1. They are slightly from what I reported earlier in this thread because I just now got them off paper and into a spreadsheet. I generally do not spend this much time at a casino but I am running so well right now that it makes it an easy choice. These numbers may be nothing for most of you but for me, I only take $100-$200 with me per trip so to get this much play is huge for me. I also played so much VP that when I was done I didn't have an itch to lose any in a slot machine. I have lost a little on BJ and throwing money away at Mississippi stud. I like that game but can not handle the swings so I only play when I am up.
