This post is likely too early by a year or 10, but how will casinos work when cash is outlawed? Will they still use chips at the tables? Will slot machines be wi-fi to take money off your phone? Will the cage just reload your Fed account (because ATMs & local banks will be long gone or only open only for loans)?

Probably. I’d actually prefer that

Use a debit card on phone to buy chips and redemptions go back on it

There will always be chips for live games and there will always be live games

Question is : would markers still be used? If you have instant access to your bank funds, what would be the point of a marker
It’s all about making that GTA

Wasn't there some scheme where you could cash out at the table?
I think you colored up for a TITO.
May the cards fall in your favor.

I'm definitely thinking of a table game, with a dealer, played with chips.
I'd have to review the cashless table game systems announced over the last 3 years at shows like G2E and NIGA. (Is it IGA now?)
May the cards fall in your favor.

What about it? I watched it and have no idea what your point is.

One of the 7clans casinos in Oklahoma used that system. They didn’t have a cashier in the casino so everything was done by tito. Also no tray fills were ever needed due to the chips not leaving the tables.

I found the casino, it was 7 clans Perry, Oklahoma. They apparently got rid of their table games in 2017 as per the chipguide. I feel old knowing that it’s been at least 6 years since I’ve been there. It really doesn’t feel that long ago.

Inquisitive minds want to know how they never need fills if collectors are purloining chips, but they can lump it.

Once chips can turn into TITO, the TITO kiosk can do whatever it does.
If cash is still an option, this sounds like a FINCEN nightmare.

I don't think it's too early to be asking these questions, as we have no idea what the future will bring. I think casinos will still use chips for table games, but for slot machines, it's possible that they may be replaced with something else. We could see an increase in online gaming, with sites like offering virtual versions of table games, poker, and slots. When it comes to transactions, it's possible that we could see a move to digital currencies, with players being able to use their phones to transfer funds in and out of their accounts. The cage could also be replaced by an automated system, so you could just reload your Fed acct with a few clicks.

There are thousands of cashless casinos already. They are called online casinos. You cannot rathole. Not only that, but most properties and all US regulated properties effectively require multiple forms of ID. In theory, you cannot play unrated or play on another persons card without violating TOS and putting you funds and winnings at risk of seizure. You cannot have another person take your W-2G form.

Every one of my online transactions has been via PayPal or VIP Preferred ETF. It is possible to get cash in or out through Pay Near Me or the cage. However, this still involves a cashless electronic transfer.

I use the mychoice wallet in their app. I believe it’s made by Everi. It’s ok. It can be a second or 2 slower sometimes than a slot ticket and players card. Also since many casinos were designed years ago where I guess the standard was to just build big enclosed concrete buildings, getting a cell signal is often difficult. It often disconnects you from the machine and you don’t realize it. Also a couple times for some reason it decided to transfer part of the money back to the app and leave some on the machine and I didn’t immediately realize it. It is nice if you wanted to deposit cash in the bank you can instead transfer money from the machine to your wallet and then withdraw it to your bank. It’s nice cause if I have small tickets or odd amounts and don’t want to cash them I can just put them in a machine and transfer it to the app and use it later. I don’t play tables but I have noticed only maybe one or 2 people using it to buy chips and it always seems like they are having problems. I tried all my credit cards. They will work after you clear the fraud alerts. I noticed about a month after starting to use them that all started to charge it as a cash advance. So I don’t do that anymore.

I see going cashless as taking many many years to develop. I don’t think people necessarily mind using cash.
