that means you are playing regular craps and not the crapless craps version - that has no don't passQuote: Jerad88If I bet on the don't pass line,
that has a probability = to 5/36 on any come out rollQuote: Jerad88and the point comes out to be 6.
but you say it happened
so it could look like this (using wincraps)
place bets, buy bets, yesQuote: Jerad88Can I make bets on the 4,5,8,9 and 10??
sure can
they are just side bets to the game of craps
yesQuote: Jerad88While having that don't pass line active?
that too
you can not make another don't pass bet until another come out roll happens
you can also, at any time, remove that don't pass bet if you feel it is going to lose
after the point is set.
Happens a lot on the 6 and the 8 points
it does
I see it very often
why the question?
maybe some casino somewhere may not allow it but the normal rules allow what you ask for

well, at least Mathexterminator said hedging was a lousy way to bet. Now Sally, I dunno what's up with her most of the time. She assumes you are a male I guess.
Never pick up your don't pass bet. A dealer may encourage it by asking "do you want the action?" Yes, you do, because the odds are on your side now. Are you tempted to bail out on a bet where you are favored because you feel you are an unlucky person? What in the world are you or any such person doing inside a casino?
But we digress.
For your original question, you can just tell the dealer you want those numbers too and have him help you place them. I understand some places will let you "place to lose" but you may have to go rightside on them if you want the numbers covered.
What you are doing is taking on bets with much higher house edge than your line bet. I see no reason to do it. Two-thirds of the time a number to resolve happens on the come-out. If you want more action just keep making the other darkside bet that's available, the Don't Come. You have to hand your bet to the dealer and say you want it. In no time you'll have a lot of numbers covered, not infrequently all 6 [but that is a lot to have in action esp if you are adding free odds]

Yes. With few exceptions*, you can make any bet at any time, regardless of any other bets you may have on the layout.Quote: Jerad88If I bet on the don't pass line, and the point comes out to be 6. Can I make bets on the 4,5,8,9 and 10?? While having that don't pass line active? Thanks guys
Have you checked out the Wizard's Craps page? Lots of good info there.
-- You may only make a Pass/Don't Pass bet when it is a come out roll.
-- You may only make an odds bet if you have a corresponding Pass/Don't Pass or Come/Don't Come bet.
not what Stacy said.Quote: odiousgambitNoobie getting good advice here?

"It's not the best way to play"
and Mathexterminator...
what's up!Quote: odiousgambitNow Sally, I dunno what's up with her most of the time.
many will not agree with you there or here.Quote: odiousgambitNever pick up your don't pass bet.
many have more fun picking up the don't pass bet (not feeling good about it winning during the point round)
and then watching the shooter hit the point.

Laying out the cheques for the dealer to place only if you're quite a distance from the minute box. That is a big reason don't come bettors gravitate to the position next to the dealer.
Quote: MathExtremistNot only can you make place bets (or buy bets) on those numbers, you can even bet on the 6 as a hedge and guarantee that you won't lose. It's not the best way to play but it's a very low-variance one.
Interesting thought if you want to improve your comps thru higher levels of play.

"Not feeling good about it" ... wow.
"more fun" ... only possible to have such fun if bathed in ignorance. There are such people but we try to dry off those who come here for advice. Most of us.
If I thought you really didn't know the math, Sally, I'd argue with you.

I avoid that area, so I have come to think you are supposed to have the dealer place it. My mistake.
