How much would it cost to employ someone to write and run a simulation for me?
Bet selection is fairly straight forward and progression is quite simple also.
Where would be the best place to look?
How would I guarantee the sim had been configured correctly?
I would like a simulation for a coin toss and also for baccarat which I think should be easy to convert.

You want to simulate a coin toss? I'll do this for you. 1000 tosses. $500. Does not include baccarat sim.

Hahaha.

I have a coin toss simulation that I can hook up to bet selection if it's clearly written. My Baccarat simulator is accurate enough, but the model I use probably doesn't satisfy most of systems guys, but I've never been fussed enough to get down to the level of individual 8 deck shoes.

The only way you can guarantee it is by having some else code review the code and analyze the algorithms independently.

I've seen prices between $8 - $25 /hour when I've glanced at these sites in the past. Your simulation will be pretty easy to program so it should be correct, but there are some mathematical ways to verify and validate the simulation that we could help you with.

Don't listen! I will physically flip the coins for a flat rate! Buy the first 1000 tosses for $500, and get the second 1000 tosses for only $350! Act now! DVD of me flipping coins for $79.99 plus shipping and handling. Offer not valid in Utah.

In all seriousness, $20/hr is a real offer from my buddy. His credentials include working for microsoft, making two fully functional VP game demos and a sports betting app demo, and currently going back to grad school for bioinformatics.

You could probably post your scenario on these forums and someone would calculate the exact probabilities and run a simulation for free. Otherwise I'll do it for $50.

I'd do it for $20 hour, too. Pocket money and a toy problem are often the reward in of itself.

Yeah but there is no interesting problem here. You know what the results are going to look like. It's just a boring normal distribution.

If it were an interesting problem, I'd do it for free.

lol. I was a student for a very long time. In grad school I would not have worked for $20 per hour. With that kind of experience and knowledge he should have no problem doing the occasional internship and making a lot more money that that. That's how I paid my way through school.

Depends on the selection/betting system. But knowing the answer doesn't mean getting there isn't interesting.

Yeah I agree.

Chipotle > Taco Bell > Olive Garden

Taco bell is just fast food. They are not pretending to be something that they are not. Olive Garden is trying to pretend to be real food, but they aren't.

Taco Bell could get it's meat from "kibbles and bits" and I'd still eat it.

With the Taco Bell / Olive Garden debate, it's not necessarily about taste but about value. Why does a plate of $0.49 pasta have to cost $17.99? At least with Taco Bell the price reflects the quality you should expect to receive.

And how can you even bring Pizza Hut into the picture? Calling them good is like calling that brick with cheese and sauce on it from Chicago a pizza!

If I wanted to actually have a full-sized meal from taco bell that would completely fill me up for the day, and assuming i didnt get sick, it would cost me like $25. And it would be about 4000 calories. So in my opinion, you are getting better value at olive garden. Taco Bell is of such incredibly low quality, it can make for a cheap snack. And if you like tacos, then like me, you probably have no problem pretending you are eating tacos.

Pizza hut is awesome.

Go eat at a real Italian restaurant and then tell me that you like Olive Garden.

Taco Bell is just fast food. When I say that I like it, I mean that if it's 2am and the choices are taco bell and mcdonald's, taco bell wins easily. I don't mean that I am planning a dinner there week in advance.

Del taco > taco bell

i hate papa johns. I once called to complain about a bad pizza i got, to get my guaranteed free pizza. I got an automated run-around and eventually NO free pizza. Total scam. Their pizza is not good at all. I almost called it gross, but then I remembered Domino's. They used to be great, but changed like every ingredient they have to junk about 15 years ago to cut costs. Seeing those recent commercials about their 'new ingredients' makes me laugh, because I wonder how much worse it can get, and how they could actually pretend they are making quality improvements.

Taco Bell and KFC are one "restaurant" here. So you can get a spicy Big Crunch. Sure you might crap liquid after, it's all a part of the experience.
