Quote: soxfanI previously posed a question on here but didn'y get answer. So, I ask again, how many hands/shoes of baccarat do I have to buck up against before I hit the "long-run", that will cause me to lose all the profit I've made over the past few years, as well as my intitial starting bankroll? You cats prattle on endlessly about it, so you should be able to define the "long-run" in precise terms, right, hey hey!
Spamming (repeating same post by his own admission) and personal insult (cat remark). 10-day suspension. Second offense.
I'd love to help you but I'm busy prattling on about the differences between a short story, a novella and a novel.Quote: soxfanYou cats prattle on endlessly about it, so you should be able to define the "long-run" in precise terms, right, hey hey!

So do I. When someone calls you a "cool cat" it's a compliment.
All the cats wanna dance with
Sweet little sixteen
That was a Chuck Berry song from 1958.
Soxfan referred to himself as a cat in one of his posts.

—When someone calls you a "cool cat" it's a compliment.
True, but the OP still broke Rule #5.

Technically he did. He asked the same question on Oct. 12. Many of us have done so, even some of the "good" posters. If soxfan hadn't started the post that got him in trouble by saying that he had asked the question before, I doubt that anyone would have noticed or cared if they did notice. Can a question never be repeated or is there a time limit ? Do we need a new rule to clarify this?
There are a few people here, one in particular, who used to do this repeatedly. The only difference is that he would begin the post with the word "bump". That apparently makes it okay, much like insulting someone and then adding a smiley face.
Not complaining, not questioning, just sayin'.

The "bump" was probably bumping it to the top of the list or Thumbtacking, which could break rule number 9 depending on the relevancy of the post that follows it.

I interpreted "cats" more in the sense of a cat fight, and by extension the board was effeminate to argue endlessly about trivial things. I'm not stereotyping, but this is just my interpretation of what soxfan meant. I wouldn't have banned over this alone, but combined with the spamming, I felt soxfan needed a timeout.

What troubles me is...I couldn't clearly find said "spamming" using a post search. So it's definitely not obvious, nor causing a nuisance to the forum. And "cats" is just outdated slang for "you guys/y'all" usually, which is also non-offensive. This is likely the case when I saw him use it again in a non-offensive post while trying to search for said "spamming".
If this guy deserves 10 days, then paigow1986 deserves something for calling my reading comprehension "shit" earlier this fall. Although it wouldn't mean much to suspend him now, because someone finally got through to him after a month and 20 pages of trying to explain how he was wrong...I think. I gave up about a week in when he told me that I should be looking for a job.
I will requote this in agreement.

I totally agree with 1BB. And thanks to him I found the question he apparently repeated. Also he asked this question on October 12th on page 12 of a 14-page thread that he didn't start!
His first and ONLY response for his question on Oct. 12th was:
Quote: Beethoven9thLooks like Fat Albert is our newest member.
(But soxfan has some thing about ending every post with "hey hey", so Statler/Waldorf obv applies to this comment.)
However, his original question was buried within a huge arguing thread and was NEVER truly answered. So reposting the same question that was buried beneath an argument thread nearly a month later is NOT spamming, imo.
Also note that I am a Cardinals fan, the team that helped him win a large bet on the world series since his team beat mine. :P

I pretty much started ignoring him shortly after I noticed the, "Job," comment myself. No longer worth my time, at that point. With the, "Shit," comment, perhaps for profanity, but definitely questioning your reading skills rather than an attack against you as a person. Statler & Waldorf on the job comment, though again, that was enough to get me to stop talking to him.

I would be okay with this if he was RIGHT...but c'mon. What soxfan did here, if you suspended him, i'd be shocked. You let much more go in that mess of a thread. He insulted people (not just me) multiple times in that thread. It was the only thread I have ever "quit" on intentionally. Considering all the pointless math I do here...that says something.

I have to admit, I was one of the early ones who tried to help paigow1986, with my limited math ability. And I pretty much tuned out the thread as well when he started getting mean and abusive in his language; I thought a couple of people were more than patient with his rudeness, to their credit, once he got so frustrated he got mean. To a certain extent, I think that has to go to several unmoderated sites superficially similar to this one (in-depth discussions of gambling), where people start off abusive and get worse. Not that that's any excuse for rudeness, here or elsewhere, but it's reflective of current internet/movie/music culture, unfortunately.
RAH once (many times, actually) noted that the first sign of a civilization's fall/decline is the loss of everyday courtesy and manners among the general population. We're there, have been increasingly for about 30 years. Sad to see.
