It has been 20 years since I have been to the casinos there. At the time there was a total of two video poker machines.
Most of the pokies will look similar to the U.S. as we pretty much copied them 25 years ago.

It's only been 12 years since I have been to Sydney (Star) and Melbourne (Crown), but that's two more than I saw. Somebody at the time told me that Queensland (Gold Coast) casinos should have them. I did see a few at an RSL (I think that's the Australian equivalent of the VFW) pub once, but they had awful pay tables - the lowest payout required a pair of Aces.
Quote: billryanI remember when Australian-style slots first hit Atlantic City. They weren't all that popular with the bus crowd, but eventually, they started to take over.

In my opinion, the game Reel'Em In was the catalyst to make those style games so popular in the U.S.

If you are going to be in Sydney, the zoo there offers a behind the scenes tour where you get up close and can hold koala's, wombats, and Joeys. One of the funniest things I remember is my friend holding the wombat in her lap and it ripped a big fart. I literally fell down laughing.
If you have the time I strongly recommend the Phillip Island Penguin trail near Melbourne.
saw that but not worth the additional cost to me.Quote: DRichIf you are going to be in Sydney, the zoo there offers a behind the scenes tour where you get up close and can hold koala's, wombats, and Joeys.
