OK, That's why it wasn't news yesterday then.
The most successful art heist in history, the thefts at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, were by guys who dressed up as security guards/cops.
Quote: teddysGood gimmick, dressing up as one of them.

Vincenzo Peruggia might disagree with you.
I remember one day I was approaching the courthouse steps when I noticed a guard leave his armored car and walk up the courthouse steps immediately in front of me.
While walking, he dropped a bunch of keys, and didn't notice, and kept going.
Eureka!
Immediately in front of me and within my grasp: the proverbial "keys to the kingdom."
Decisions, decisions.
"IF" I were a betting man, I would say there will be an arrest within 2 weeks.Quote: DRichI will give 2 to 1 odds that this turns out to be an inside job.
Probably a wise decision considering ATM machines have cameras all over them. Thus, as soon as the person reported an issue they'd go back to the withdraw time/machine and see not the account holder doing all the illegal withdrawing...Quote: KentryI remember a man saying that someone left their ATM card in the machine by accident, and when the ATM asked "Is the transaction over?" He briefly considered the fact that he could say "No," and take out whatever money was left in that person's account, but decided to do the right thing and say "Transaction over," and give the ATM card to the bank.

It's easy to block the atm cameras.
I am interested in this action, but how will it be resolved if I am right and it is not an inside job, and the crime goes unsolved?Quote: DRichI will give 2 to 1 odds that this turns out to be an inside job.

I think if it is not solved we wouldn't know who was correct (unless you are willing to admit to the crime and swear you didn't have an inside partner). I am still willing to offer you the bet but working out details may be difficult. When is it resolved? Do we need to wait until after the case is adjudicated? etc.

Back around 1980 I used to hang out in a bar in Miami, Ma Grundys, corner of 36st and 79ave (?). Right by the Doral Country Club, in the Country Club Gardens Apts. There were gamblers there. Every day they would actually bet on who was going to win Family Feud on the Telly. I didn't understand then, I still don't.....
How about this:Quote: DRichI think if it is not solved we wouldn't know who was correct (unless you are willing to admit to the crime and swear you didn't have an inside partner). -- If there is a conviction or plea deal within the next year, and it turns out that the perp was an insider (or had inside help), I will donate $50 to the charity of your choice.
-- If there isn't an arrest, or there is a conviction or plea deal within the next year, and it turns out the perp was not an insider (and did not have inside help), you will donate $100 to the charity of my choice.
-- If there is an arrest but no conviction or plea deal within the next year, it is a push.

Back in the eighties when these systems were new, that move would have been possible (I know someone who was victimized). Now, however, the software prohibits that move.
Upon asking if the transaction is over, if you click yes, the ATM will ask you for the new amount you wish to withdraw and then ask for you to re-enter your pin number. If you don't have the pin, then transaction over.
BTW - Why do we always say Pin number? Since PIN stands for Personal Identification Number, saying PIN number is the same as saying your Personal Identification Number number. It's like an Oxymoron, I guess, that I hear a lot of people say.
That's offensive. It's bad enough turncoats love fear mongering.Quote: coilmantoday heard it was a AP
AP is legally beating the casino. This is a clear case of at least blatant stealing.
Quote: IbeatyouracesSpeaking of a robbery near Greektown, how about the end of that Packers/Lions game. Nice phantom facemask call by the ref. :-D
Never would have mattered if the Lions played the second and third quarters

Talking about stealing, you guys just blatantly hijacked this thread.

Not completely. Ford Field is 1/4 mile from Greektown.

Sorry, I am not interested in doing it for charity.
