Just spent a week at Atlantic City. Stayed at the Tropicana. As far as what is open and what not, COVID seems to still have the place very lightly staffed and a lot of shops, restaurants and tables are closed or close early. The ones that were open, had very slow service because while the supply is down, the demand was not.
I spent a lot of time playing craps, blackjack, Pai Gow Poker, and betting sports.
Table minimums were $15 during the day and $25 per night. 1 craps table open in the whole place Monday thru Thursday. They did have 3 open on Friday and Saturday.
I saw 5 blackjack tables open and running at all times. Only 1 allowed mid-shoe entry, with a $15 minimum, CSM. The others were 8 deck shoe games with no mid shoe entry and $25 or $50 minimums. All paid 3:2 and were stand on soft 17.
1 Pai Gow table. Always crowded while open. Only open 4pm till 2am.
I took $9,000 cash with me. I came home with $11,435. I'd say I had a pretty successful trip. That was after all food and drinks paid for as well as a trip to Ripley's with the kids.
My average sports bet was $220. My average craps bet was $25 line bet on the Don't with max odds (5x). 1 point working. Sometimes getting behind 2 or 3 if I was up that session. My blackjack bet was usually between $50-$200 a hand. When I played Pai Gow I started with $50 bets and Martingaled until I got a win. It was Face Up so there was no commission. I was able to play quite a while doing that. Luckily, I never had a session where I busted that sessions entire bankroll.
I was also shocked at how many times I found the 8 Scarab machines in an AP situation during this trip, in a casino this crowded. I taught the trick to my 70 year old father who tracked it for the week and made $117 just APing, Scarab. LoL

Thanks for the report.
If you found a bunch of Scarabs then I'd guess they recently cleaned house of scavenger APs. You're probably fine as an out of towner but even then I'd limit the number of times you check, especially if you're staying a week at a time.

Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

I think in general the east coast casinos have much more AP friendly slots due to less people being aware of them. I've hit a few hundred of Ocean Magic machines at Cherokee that people left in a good spot. Made about $100 off of the 3 towers game(name is escaping me... red, green, blue towers that fill up and give bonsu rounds) as well. People will leave machines at odd times in a near ev+ state.
