10 am, 10:30, 11, 11:30, and now 12 noon
No busses
Multiple lines
Chaos

Quote: MaxPenMight be time for a new angle. I can't imagine dealing with that. So depressing. Are all those people going to Atlantic City?
Yes
Thats just the ac people
Greyhound not saying anything
Rumor now is drivers staging surprise strike
When 5 drivers in a row dont show up i guess that might qualify
But for now its just rumor amongst the patrons
Quote: billryanDo they still have a train to AC?
Yes n no
Have to switch at trenton for Philly. Then philly for ac
90 minutes longer than bus with connections
Costs more
No casino bonus
Its an option if i had mucho fp i had to make but bus is preferable
I am on a bus
Left behind LOTS of people. Waited since 10am so made it on first bus to show up
No explanation given for delay
Several hundred so no biggie but still worth the trip under nominal conditions
My girlfriend wanted to go so bad she rubbed my head into submission
Lets hope she doesnt gamble away all my winnings today lol
Quote: TigerWuDo they let white people onto those Chinatown bus junkets?
Yea anybody can get on those
After today i might be looking into it
But greyhound schedule is flexible for returning from ac. Hate to give that up but this makes 2nd time they had this crazy delay in a few weeks. (That im aware of. Something tells me its happening a lot)
Quote: billryanFor awhile there was a direct train on weekends. I never took it as I always went down on Mondays.
Im unaware of that
Will have to check

It was nicknamed ACE- Atlantic City Express.

Quote: MaxPenI'm thinking it would be better to work in a toll booth huffing exhaust fumes all day than AP on the east coast. At least then you don't have to wear a mask.
Hey that was a really good one

Bruh y'all stole micheal Jackson, don't take our busses

My experience with the chinatown buses is they seat the non-asians in the back of the bus
No joke
The whites didnt seem to care but black people were very offended on one trip lol
Many years ago this was

Haha..... when I was a kid riding the bus to school, the back was seriously where the black kids hung out. Sometimes I would sit back there with them and play spades.
The back of the school bus was the place to be for maximum privacy!
ROFLMAO

The ACES train was nice with brand new cars... You still had to go all the way over to North Philly before switching to the Atlantic city line tracks, but it was a much better experience than the the buses.
Quote: DutyfreeHmmm. So the most feared mask wearing ap team leader in the United States. Brings his gf to the bus terminal for 3 hours then takes bus 6 hours round trip for a couple hundred dollars that she may just gambleaway
How do you not buy a car and drive
Seems insane to anyone
I would first need to learn how to drive
It makes sense to NYers
I understand guns and cars for the rest of the country
Won $1000 playing slots and not even APing
Since i bankrolled her we split the profits
I admit though I was prepared for this to have a lousier result
BTW shes my new gf. It usually takes awhile before i trust enough to divulge some barebones secrets (enough for her to comprehend i make my living this way) and enough time to get the gambling addiction out of their blood
EDIT: Who's this new Dutyfree guy with no post history that's already taunting established members?
Quote: TigerWuI used to live in NYC and hated driving anywhere. Being a car owner sucks in that city. Darkoz is definitely APing with this whole bus angle.
Thank you
(I think)

Probably calls himself the opposite of LOSE
But fails at that as well
When Resorts and the Trop were under construction, their offers were great.
Unless there is a fire or accident on the Garden St. Parkway, the bus is the right play. Once got all screwed up when a National Guard jet met an emergency landing and forced us off in the middle of nowhere. Another time a brush fire sent us all the way to Philadelphia to get the Turnpike.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- There are mounting frustrations at the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Hundreds of people were stranded overnight after Greyhound bus drivers failed to show up.
Eyewitness News has put in calls to Greyhound trying to get answers like the many people who are waiting downstairs

Statement from @GreyhoundBus says “We are currently experiencing delays at the Port Authority as we wait for drivers to become available once they complete their federally mandated rest.” @ABC7NY

An unsanctioned union uninvolved strike?

"Once they complete their federally mandated rest" sounds like "work to rule" to me and the reporter is covering for them. I have done absolutely no research on this outside of reading the thread.

Im sure thats the excuse they are giving
Im certain the union isnt allowing greyhound to break federally mandated rest requirements.
When doing a wildcat strike it is in their best interest to give the best excuse they can or face sanctions
Im certain the workers feel slighted over something. I just doubt its over rest requirements
EDIT: Greyhound is most definitely unionized. No way thats a national right to work corporation

It's very common in the bus business to shave DOT service hours, and most of the time the drivers go along with the abuse.
If Greyhound can't find drivers on time now, they have tried to run their schedule with too few commercial drivers.
All the drivers ever have to do to effect a slowdown there is strict compliance with DOT regulations when the employers leave themselves few options .

What happens on Greyhound, stays on Greyhound.
From what I hear from drivers is they are paid per run(there and back) so if they can't find someone to accept the job, they call the next driver until they get someone or they cancel it and tell the passengers Hours after they purchased their ticket and waited for the bus.
So in most cases, they do try to find a last minute driver, even if they have to outsource to another company like Lakeland or Transbridge. But in most cases, the drivers are less motivated.
I started going to Sands PA via Raritan Valley Bus line, which has never had ONE cancellation even in bad weather conditions and the owner of the company even shows up randomly to give out free tickets to the weekend riders. If only Greyhound, Academy or Saddle River Bus Companies used this kind of rewards system.

Seems to be a variety of factors involved but the net result is that although these day tripping bus riders are not whales, there is an incentive for them to do 'Sands, PA' rather than a variety of casinos in Atlantic City, NJ. Particularly during inclement weather I'd think the casino would be out there with a bunch of certificates for 'free hot coffee' or something.
Don't the casinos in AC realize they need players even the day-tripping "whales" on those buses?
Perhaps this is an opportunity for a van-pooling service of reliable drivers at reasonable prices?

The incentive is $15 bus ticket for $45 freeplay vs atlantic city $45 bua ticket for $25 freeplay
At least that was the Sands deal 5 years ago. Been 5 years since I did the Sands bus hustle
The casino downtown where I live gave me $10 FP last summer. It wasn’t worth 20 mins of driving each way and trying to find parking which is a bitch in downtown all for $9 of value. My time is worth more than that.
They're not taking the bus only to use FP and wait to go home. It's just icing on the cake and more economical than driving, no tolls, no gas, no wear and tear. I took buses to Atlantic City, wasn't that bad, besides you cannot smoke until breaks of course. To get an offer, you have to leave from a city on Greyhound's list. Had a problem the first time booking two one ways, because it was cheaper, didn't get free play. Of course both the casino and the bus company claimed it was the other that was responsible for giving the free play.Quote: speedycrapSZpent 6 hours on bus for net $30 free play?? Is it worth it?

Its only 90 minutes from nyc to sands. So net $30 is about minimum wage

This brings up a good point. How much time are you willing to devote to pick a $X amount of freeplay?
There is a casino about 90 minutes from me that offers about $200 a week in free play. I generally do not pick it up because it would require a 3.5 hour time commitment and about $15 in gas. When the offers exceed $300 I almost always go.

So about $52/hour? How is that not worth it?
I’ve seen several people here state that a play worth $50/hr is not worth their time.
Maybe I’m just poor, but $50/hr is the equivalent to a $104k salary.

Make it up with volume.
1)Start an adult day care, charging $25 a day.
2) Take your charges on a field trip.
3)collect an additional $30 from the Sands bonus.
Get ten people and you clear $550 a day.
Once up and running, it's a $200,000 a year operation with very little overhead.
Nothing to sneeze at, with lots of room to expand.
The next step is to find a way to monetize the five hours spent on the bus. A portable blood lab, maybe.

I'd try and squeeze two roundtrips a day out of them.
