My bet is that Glenn Straub won't reopen the Revel.
Those fine, upstanding New Jersey gaming regulators aren't going to let some ignorant country bumpkin from the rural South come in and start demanding this and demanding that (without even making any payoffs whatsoever).

Since the article was published, Glenn Straub has changed his mind again. The other day he said he plans to be opened and operational by New Years Day.

Dude is crazy. Met him as well, honestly I respect him for being rich, but I have no clue what he has in mind here. Nothing to gain from opening up now and honestly I though he would have turned it by now. May be there are no legitimate offers for it, which is telling.

They're coming back as a casino I noticed in another article. I didn't like the blood red carpeting and hopefully this will be one of the things they learned. Some psychological tricks don't work when people know the game. Tight machines I doubt they'll give up on.

I believe that Straub (or the casino management company) will be smart enough to realize that the originally intended, 'Market,' for Revel is simply a market that largely doesn't exist, or at least, not in sufficient numbers. With that in mind, hopefully they will be wise enough to position themselves accordingly in the market from a standpoint of comps, and also, make it known that is what they are doing.
They will have a player base going in, as far as records go, and perhaps they will affiliate with someone like Hard Rock who would have an extremely strong database. The marketing and market positioning is going to be crucial for them to be successful.
Simply put, they'll have to aim lower on, 'Average spend,' and hope to make it up in volume. Fortunately, the debt burden won't be as insurmountable, and Straub's got money backing him up.
