Google News is touting a rehashed Los Angeles Times article about LA club owner Sam Nazerian's wager on the aging Sahara becoming the SLS hotspot of night clubbing in a new Las Vegas that is sort of a "Beautiful People of LA shifted eastward a bit" by nightclub owner's manipulation and money.

I drove past the former Sahara the other day. Somebody is tearing much, if not all, of it down. I'm not sure if they are leaving the tower(s) or waiting to implode them last.

I wold think its hard, if not impossible, to implode a tower without damaging or destroying the attached casino. If the casino were merely nearby and not attached, then I'd say it was doable. But not for attached.
That being the case, I'd say if they were planning to implode the towers, they wound have done that first, then work with whatever remains standing.

That seems logical. I guess somebody want to just keep them and start from scratch with everything else.
At the risk of going off topic, hopefully somebody will take an interest in the Fountain Blue one of these days and finish that eyesore.

I doubt anything happens with the Fontainebleau soon as Icahn is simply holding it until he thinks he can get a good price. The SLS is sort of involved there. If its a big hit, maybe it helps that dismal part of the Strip and the Fontainebleau gets sold to someone who wants to finish it.
