I drove by a building in a nearby town and stopped at a stop light and my satellite radio skipped out and it couldn't reacquire the signal until I left the intersection. Not sure if the signal was jammed by a nearby cell tower or if it was just the obstruction.

I have a feeling a lot of people are just gonna have to leave vehicles and RV's behind, trek the 5 miles to the nearest tiny town and bussed to civilization. Come back when it really dries out which can be a week to weeks. Thousands of vehicles on soft ground not completely dried trying to exit out is going to be a nightmare. These RVs will be heavy with full black tanks. It could be a line of cars for 2 days getting out considering last year's 8 hour wait in traffic.

Re: black tanks...
Unless people are eating and drinking a lot that didn't get brought in the RV, isn't the weight going to be... about the same?
(No hookups on the playa, right?)

True.
But the ground was dry and hard coming in
Looks like no problem getting out
Except.
10 lanes to 2 lanes to 1 lane lol

I think I understand, and am just getting hung up on "The RV isn't really getting heavier; the roads are just getting much worse".
Enjoy the day!

This is commonly done and common knowledge in the off roading world. So the next time you get the Volvo
stuck air em down buddy.
My son is an avid overlander so we know that trick.
Me, I'd never take one of my old Volvo Turbos on a beach or where mud could form; for those adventures I'd drive my F-250 4X4 (hi and lo range) with BFG KO2's.
The last time I recall him mentioning it was when he attempted to ride thru the Fremont Street Experience during the covid shutdown, but got stopped by security.Quote: EvenBob... Does he even ride a unicycle anymore? ...

Auto insurance's "comprehensive" physical damage coverage would allow restitution on an "actual cash value" basis. The common term is "full coverage." Physical damage coverages have two parts: collision and other than collision which includes fire, theft, animal collision, flood, etc. So, CC, for those individuals with that optional coverage on their policy, there would be valid restitution.

Thank you for your concern. I had lots of texts from people worried about me and I still haven't checked Email.
Short version is I'm fine. I didn't bring a computer and didn't remember my password here, so couldn't visit this site. I plan to write the story later today.
The celebrities and ultra-rich who fled the scene didn't get the spirit of the week.
I doubt the behavior was too widespread but the circumstances were obviously unusual. The County Sheriff said exhausted partygoers 'lashed out' at one another. One burner reported "There's a little bit of this Lord of the Flies vibe..."
No sign of road blocking climate protesters. I guess they wisely decided to stay out of everyone's way.

Were you hanging out with Chris Rock or Leon Reece at any point in time?

From what I've heard he was never NOT safe and sound. Almost everybody I've heard talking about their experience is saying that most of what the media reported was hyped up BS. Nobody was running out of water or food, nobody was even inconvenienced very much unless they tried to leave. There was no disease, nobody was starving to death, sounds like everybody had a good time despite the rain.

No. I had no idea they were there.
However, the saxophone player from Pink Floyd did a show and I simply didn't know about it. I'm pretty mad at myself over that as I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan.

I would agree that the media probably over-hyped it, but I was stuck there when such coverage would have been seen. For those who just relaxed and accepted that sometimes it rains, the worst thing that happened was some boredom. I did get a stomach bug, but that wasn't too bad. I have heard others did too as the porta-potties were not serviced for two or three days and got quite disgusting.
Yes, those who drove out on Monday faced huge lines, but I fortunately took the bus, which are given a separate road out.
Is this man I'm with (on the left) supposed to be:
1. German
2. Prussian
3. English
Personally, I thought Prussian, but he insisted he was some branch of the English military I never heard of.

Is he related to this guy?
Wonderhussy makes a semi-music video of her trip 5 years ago.
She has more Burning Man content on her YouTube channel from previous years. She travels around and vlogs. She currently lives in Death Valley.

She said she got sick and I'm hearing that more and more from people who were there. Seems like a lot of people got sick from being in the crowds, and with all this talk of mask mandates coming back I wonder what's going on.
COVID is found in wastewater and is a marker for the prevalence of COVID in the city. Nobody was doing COVID tests on the plugged-up Port-O-Potties at Burning Man AFAIK.
Wonderhussy also said the playa dust was giving her respiratory problems. It must be like inhaling flour from a nearby flour mill, bad for your health.
