There goes one of the the best strip parking spots for a year.

From their website
"Billís Gambliní Hall & Saloon Will Temporarily Close

Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon will temporarily close on Feb. 4, 2013 to accommodate
a major renovation that will convert the property to a boutique lifestyle hotel and casino.
Final room reservations can now be made through Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013.

The renovated hotel and casino is expected to open in early 2014, under a new name,
and will include the addition of a rooftop pool as well as a dayclub/nightclub managed by Drai Management Group.
The conversion also includes the complete remodeling of the guest rooms,
casino floor and common areas, the addition of a new second floor restaurant,
and construction of the 65,000 square foot rooftop pool and dayclub/nightclub.

From all of us at Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon,
we would like to thank you for your patronage and we look forward to you joining us during our final days.
It is our pleasure to serve you and we look forward to your visit when we return to the Las Vegas Strip with a fully re-imagined hotel experience."

It sounds like there might be a Casino on the property too!
I don't know everything but I know a lot.

I could stay at the Flamingo for instance. Walk right out the door and into Bill's and gamble for hours with $200 tops, then walk right outside with the wife and see the Bellagio Fountains.

It was right there? God, I must've been more drunk than I thought. Never even seen it lol

Clearly it was their intention to level the place when they bought it. The fact that it is still a low rise hotel at all is something of a miracle.

I do wonder about the viability of trying to make it such an expensive hotel. It is still right in the middle of the cheap section of the strip.

I can see this working, but $185 Million was alot of money. Being able to use your TR card will help getting players in the door that didnt play at Bills. I wonder how they will handle the comp room situation. Also the rooms are still on the small size based on available space, which is the same problem they have at Nobu at Caesars. You can do a great make over on an old room, but you cant change the size.

And as I pointed out in this thread, why would anyone pay $250/night to stay at SLS (the old Sahara) when they could pay $250 to stay at Gansevoort? Both of these hotels will be outrageously overpriced, but at least the Gansevoort has the best location in Las Vegas: across the street from Bellagio and Caesars. The SLS will be across the street from the beautiful Circus Circus and the luxurious Riviera.

I think it's New Yawker for Meat Packing District.

For what it's worth, I snapped this picture on the day before Bill's closed its door forever:
Someday, joor goin' to see the name of Googie Gomez in lights and joor goin' to say to joorself, "Was that her?" and then joor goin' to answer to joorself, "That was her!" But you know somethin' mister? I was always her yuss nobody knows it! - Googie Gomez

The Ganesvoort is no more. Caesars will continue the project without them. Now we can guess at what the new joint will be named.

I choose - Avgvstvs -

But going by recent history, they will probably name it - The Tetra -
