Headed to Vegas Tomorrow

Staying at Paris (sun-thurs) I've used my players card maybe once there but decided to punch my number in on their site to see if it had any effect. For some unexplained reason, they gave me two nights comped and two nights for $39 (Or 4 comped nights at 5 other properties) so i took the generous offer right away.

Meeting up with about 12 friends. Going to check out Insert Coin, a video arcade bar on Fremont Street and the Pinball Hall of Fame. Gambling will consist of JoB (FP), Pai Gow Poker, Craps (pass line and odds), and some Baccarat. Maybe even Pick 'em video poker if i make it out to the Fremont that i believe houses it.

That makes 2 blog posts in a year. Huzzah for no resort fees!

Weird room situation from their computers, but go for it.

Sounds like you know what you will be doing, so good luck to you. Don't worry about commissions at Baccarat, they will remind you and you can pay down your commissions at any time that YOU like to do it and don't have to wait until you are leaving the table.

First ever trip to the Baccarat table

So for the last 2 months, I've been reading the Wizards site quite regularly. The sheer wealth of knowledge has been incredibly helpful. Armed with said knowledge I made a path for the Grand Victoria in Elgin, IL. I'm a low roller, my bankroll for this excursion was $200, but i thought it would be adequate for a Tuesday night. Of course, i was wrong. $25 min bet BJ was all over the place and I ran into a few $15 dollar tables only to realize it was a 6:5. After all I read, I just stood back and wondered, what if these people knew how crappy the game they were playing was?

In any event, after breaking even during 2 hours of craps (Pass Line and Odds), I ventured towards the Baccarat table. Intimidating at first, just like Craps was when i first saw it, except I knew the rules for this one. The only thing i didn't understand was the process of paying off commission. I stood behind the velvet rope for about 20 minutes trying to figure out when/how it was payed. Finally, I decided to hop in the number 6 seat and give it a go. $15 min bet on the Banker every single time.

The most intriguing thing was not the outcome of the game, nor how much I won ($115 for those of you keeping score at home), but the actions of the other players at the table. The constant glaring, jotting, and erasing of the scorecards. Sitting out X amount of hands while playing Y amount of tie bets. The LED display of recent hands was gathering more looks than the busty blonde bringing me my beer. It was the first time I have been to a casino where i was able to sit down and not fret over the end result. I knew i was making the best play and that even if i lost, i made the right bet(would of been better had i prepaid commission). That's a hell of a lot more fun than previous visits.

That's how I play also. I sometimes mix it up and play player, but the great majority of time play banker.

I agree, the baccarat table can be rather scary, but so can the craps table the first time you play. People watching, especially at the high limit tables, is a lot of fun.

I rarely play Bac. When I do, it's primarily to kill time. The amount of time those people write results and analyze it is amazing.

It's really great to play right before you go to bed. Yawn...
