Craps Regulars & Tipping

This blog is about taking care of regular dice shooters at the local craps tables.

I mentioned this also in the forums, but It should be known to everyone and shared everywhere.

We know most of the regular dice shooters from many casinos who have a good average (more than 10 numbers rolled) and this is good. But there are also shooters that roll REPEATED numbers. These are the guys you need to take care of.

Buckshot & Repeated number shooters will make you a small fortune is very little time. They may not know you but you know them.

It is very important to have these guys recognize you as a "Tip the shooter" type person.
Let them know when you plan to do so by doing simple things like taking $25.00 from your stack and tell the stick man "$5 Fire bet for the shooter" or even a small gesture like "$5 C&E for the shooter"

Or if you're next to the shooter, "I got your pass line bet covered"

These little "investments", "Tips" go a long way.

Just the other day a regular craps shooter down on his luck approached the table and try to borrow $100 from his friend and in response, he was refused. I knew this guy from a couple hours earlier rolling tons of numbers and made me more than $100 in profits a few times during the night.

He didn't know me but I knew him because of the way he threw the dice using a vertical dice set and continuously rolling repeated 5's, 6's & 8's throughout the night.

He got to know me well when I offered to pay his pass line bet. $15.00. His first roll was a 4 and it just got crazy for the next 20 minutes. He made me more than $100 just from the 5,6,8 then he made the point and made himself money.

His 20 minute roll made me more than $300 (Would have been much more if I had pressed my bets)

Craps regulars should work as a team and help each other out.

The paybacks are ten fold.

Cool story, but nobody rolls any number(s) more than anyone else or than just throwing out of a cup. Save your tip money, you may need it some day.

I often find myself playing as Mr. Sensible when shooting at the craps table, betting PL + odds. I've found -- for myself, as others' mileage may vary -- playing an Iron Cross (or similar) as Mr. Greedy often results in the Dice Muse slapping me down with an early seven-out. However, as Mr. Sensible, I often have a long roll with Big Red nowhere to be found. The other players are taking the casino to the cleaners, while I watch everyone else having a good time. When the end finally comes, I sometimes win and sometimes lose. But, it sure makes for one happy table when that long roll occurs, and that kind of table energy is a plus for everyone. "Did everyone make a little money on that roll?" I'll call out, especially if I made my point and can continue shooting. Their rejoinders reinforce the positive energy. As the Stick passes the dice to me, I'll say something like, "Well, let's do that again. I'll stand here and shoot 'til my durn arm falls off."

The converse, IMO, is the player who can find something ugly to say about almost every other player, usually because Mr. Ugly has a ton of money on every bad bet on the table and becomes mad as hell when he doesn't win. He can find fault with anything and everything the shooter does, and without hesitation makes his opinion known. That is, unless the roll was a win, at which time he gladly takes credit for it (...finally, FINALLY, doing what I told you...) or declaring, "Well, you lucked out on that roll." The venom they spew is a poor reflection of their upbringing and would probably be an embarrassment to their parents if they had also been standing at the table. Players such as that can chill a hot table in no time.

The "little investment' in another shooter -- such as you describe -- is probably noticed by everyone, especially if you correctly judge the shooter is likely to win money for the players. I almost never see "investments" such as you describe, but I expect it makes everyone feel the table getting hotter, and IMO that's the kind of table I want to play at.

sad part of this post is some players actually believe it.

Because even though this is purely a game of luck, the shooter should be the one that gets treated like the king of the table and not the dealers, who without them, you wouldn’t even HAVE a shooter to take care of. Worst logic I’ve ever seen in the casino, bar none.

Sounds like you're begging for money when you're on a hot roll.

I was playing at Caesars in AC about two weeks ago and some girl was yelling at the table for not tipping her cause she rolled for half an hour and everyone made money. I hate those kind of people. I told her to go beg in the street then things went south from there. Everyone was cursing at each other and fist were thrown. Eventually, she and her cohorts were asked to leave. This really soured my entire trip.

I tip dealers, not shooters.

I agree

The only times I’ll give another shooter money is if they are a family member or friend, or if the shooter is rolling #’s and he literally has no money after he seven outs. If that’s the case. I might make a pass line bet for him if he’s hanging out at the table watching.

I’m a little superstitious to believe in luck, but not enough to believe in dice setting.
