Electronic Blackjack

In the electronic blackjack game in my casino ( the one with the big screen and the "attractive" virtual female dealers), the rules say that the game uses six decks. At various intervals the game changes " dealers ".....

1. Is the machine counting down the six decks ?

2. Does the change of " dealer" mean that a new shoe is in place ?

Thanks in advance for any replies

I'm pretty sure it uses six decks, but all the cards are shuffled after every hand. The dealer changing has nothing to do with the cards.

There are several different manufacturers and different settings available. The 5 station game that has dominated for the last decade is made by shufflemaster. That's the one with mostly 'busty' pretty female dealers. For example that game can be set to 6 decks or single deck. It can be set to BJ plays 3-2 (circus circus LV) or BJ pays 6-5 (harrah's LV). It can even be set to where each player plays from there own individual deck, not related to the dealers deck or other players deck. This is because some jurisdictions have a law where one players decision can not effect the odds of another players decision, so in Pa and now recently New York, these machines are set to individual decks for each player.

Some of the games that are 6 deck even went as far to advertise that they shuffled after 4 decks (67% penetration). Speculation was that the dealer change signified the shuffle point, but it later became known that this was not the case. The shuffle point was actually unknown, making these games uncountable.

One of the newer brands, Aruze (El cortez LV) is also a 5 station game, but the dealers are not quite so realistic. Just a little more animated. there has been a lot of chatter that this game is countable, but I am not sure of the details as to what signifies the shuffle point.
