Hi all, I'm having some probability trouble, can someone help me out?

2 dice vs 2 dice
Odds one person rolls higher total?
Odds one person rolls double or more than the other?

Then what happens when we add 1 to the total to one set of dice? + 2? Etc..

Is there a formula for this?

wow, you are a newbie game designer as dice are the easiest to crunch numbers with. You can literally write down all the possible outcomes for one roll, have you tried that?

If you are going to be a game designer I would pick up a book on working out probabilities, or give it up.

You may find this chart helpfull. It gives the exact number of ways to roll one number then another. For example there are 15 ways to roll a 6 then a 4. There are 1296 total ways to roll 2 pairs of dice.

I got the easy stuff down, like ~58% that I roll a 7 or lower total, it's just the comparing/combining of the 2 %,s that I am messing up.

Eg. How do I get to the double or more result? My math showed that one person would get double or more than the other less than 3% of the time, is that right?

Using the chart I just posted I get 159 out of 1296 or a little over 12%,

This is what I understand:

Question 1: The player will win if they roll a total hither than the other player.
I calculate 575/1296 = 0.4437.

Question 2: The player will win if they roll a total higher than the other player or if they roll a double.
I calculate 692/1296 wins = 0.554. The player will get doubles on 216/1296 games alone.

Question 2 isn't about rolling doubles, but rolling a total twice as much as the other player.
