I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me figure out the odds for a new poker-style game comprised of a 45-card deck with 5 suits of 9 cards each. I need to know the number of combinations for each possible 5-card hand: no pair, one pair, two pair, 3 of a kind, 5-card straight, 5-card flush, Full house, 4 of a kind, 5 of a kind, and straight flush. Thanks!

Trumps? I assume this is a game you are designing. If so, good luck with it. I think the novelty of a fifth suit would be a bit off-putting but good luck.Quote: NicksGamingStuffWhat is the fifth suit?

Thanks ChesterDog! At first, the results you provided were surprising to someone so accustomed to the odds of the various ranked hands in a standard 52-card poker game, but after giving your figures some thought, they do make sense. Thanks again!

FleaStiff & NicksGamingStuff, the suits are not your standard Club, Hearts, Diamonds, Spades. Though I haven't got many details yet from the trainers at the indian casino where I work, what I hear is that this game is loosely based on a native american variation of poker played with tiles or domino-like pieces. it sounds very strange to me and I'm doubtful that it will catch on. Apparently, the nine ranked cards per suit are represented by letters that have a numerical value, rather than by numbers themselves. These letters can be used to spell specific words that somehow affect game-play. I've also heard that the play is similar to texas hold'em in most respects except that during the last round of betting, all players must turn up one hole card (or tile) of their choice. Weird, huh?

Personally, I think that a flush ranking higher than both a Full House and Four Of A Kind will be the most troubling thing for players to get used to.Quote: FleaStiffI think the novelty of a fifth suit would be a bit off-putting but good luck.
