I have a question.
Four Card poker is normally dealt 5 cards to player first and the 6 cards to dealer (5 down and 1 up). Game plays on.

What happens or would anything happen to the odds, if that process was changed to

Dealer gets 5 cards first, then another 5 cards second (10 total, flip top card to make dealer first hand, discard 4 remaining cards), then 5 cards to player. Game plays on.

Thanks

Is the discard of four cards done automatically, or after the dealer looks at them?

If the discard of 4 cards from 10 is done automatically, then it has no impact on the odds. Basically the dealer is getting 6 cards randomly and the player is getting 5 cards randomly. The order in which random cards are dealt is irrelevant.

If the dealer can look at all 10 cards before discarding 4 cards, then dealer will crush the player in the long run.

DIscard would be automatic, no look just take the top card from the 2nd set of cards.

Then the sequence or order of dealing cards has no effect on the odds or on the probabilities of which dealer and player hands are dealt.
