Are you asking what level of positive count would justify a jump in bet? I think there are many threads here where such things are discussed in depth.
here in Perth, Western Australia, we have one allowed casino. They use 6-deck shuffling machines that swallow the cards after every hand. As far as I'm aware, counting cannot be done in this scenario. There is no hole carding here, I don't think...the dealer keeps a face down card, no peeking, no surrendering.Quote: MDawgWellbush, in Blackjack besides the things that don't come up all the time, such as shuffle tracking, hole carding including malfunctions with the card reader that reveal the hole card, and other not everyday occurrences, the positive count of the deck is what gives the player an edge. There is a second track that I do besides just the count but it ultimately gets back to at least the count.

the game just plays out for the table players. once that completes, the dealer then reveals his cards for all to see.
no, i wasn't asking about the count, but the EV.
I don't think I'd ever play any table game unless I felt that I had an edge, one demonstrated by consistent winning. I don't see the fun or point in consistent losing anyway!
i have a similar mindset MD. i'm looking for an edge, otherwise i'm just looking.Quote: MDawgWell, absent anything else, the house edge changes based on how well you play the game. Play it with perfect basic strategy, no counting, nothing else, and over time (perhaps - a very long time) you should get the house edge as reported at WOO or similar sites for your version of blackjack. But due to variance, you might win a lot more or less than expected.

Quote: WellbushWhat +EV score in BJ, would start being somewhat profitable for the everyday gambler? E.g. someone who goes to the casino with $300 and plays at a $15min table
You can lose with +EV.
You can win with -EV.
This is variance.
Without variance, you're just getting change back from a vending machine.
