My friends and I were having a poker night a year back or so and 5 of us were playing in a hand the flop and turn made 2 pair on the board which gave 4 of us a full house and the river gave one of my friends a full house through a pocket pair in his hand. What are the odds of this happening? If you were curious my friend with the pocket pair ended up winning the hand 3 people pushed all in 2 (one being me) folded with the lower full house.

there must have been trips on the board? If so, much less remarkable. In any case, with community cards you have to constantly remember you are largely sharing the same hand.

Not the way he described it. Example:
Board... 9, 9, K, K, 4
Player 1) A, 9
Player 2) 8, 9
Player 3) A, K
Player 4) K, Q
Player 5) 4, 4

not exactly since the pocket pair won
in any case, that scenario is much less likely .... edit: maybe not?

In my example, the hands with the K's split the pot (kings full of 9's). The OP described two pair on board. So I just set up an example of his description.
He said the pocket pair that rivered a boat won. A board of 4, 4, 6, 6, J would fit that description.

I can't exactly remember the flop but yea the board was something like 6, 6, 9, 9, J
examples of hands were:
1) 6,7
2) 5,6
3) 9,A
4) 9,K
5) J,J
I'm still curious of the odds of this happening I'm terrible at math
