Single deck... Playing Texas Hold'em. A total of 18 cards were dealt in hand. 5 players, 3 burn cards, 5 community cards. 3 of the 5 players all received the same hand. What are the odds in this happening??? All 3 players were dealt J5

It might help if you told us what the cards were.

They all had pocket aces:-)

About a month ago there was two ace's of spades in a UTH game I was watching. Everyone got their original buy in paid back!

Full-buyin? I wouldn't think the extra card would change the game odds too much. It probably actually helps the player (not positive of that though). Probably didn't take too many hands to see it though I guess, so maybe they didn't pay back that much?

As for the thread in question, it's too late for me to try to figure this out right now. Maybe later...lol

I assume he means identical hole cards. Specifics don't matter. He would be asking this question whether it was 58o, AKs, 76o, etc. It can't be a pair, obviously.

We all had J5 but I'm not sure it's relevant

I agree, that's most likely what he meant. His question is worded kind of weird though. It left open the possibility that, say, 3 of the guys had something like A-2, A-3 & A-5, and they all ended up with a pair of Aces.

Yes, it's relevant since it wasn't specified that the hole cards were the same.

Haha. Thanks. Been debating the statistical odds with my husband half the night since he and I were 2 of the 3 people.

My bad. Thought saying all 3 players had the same hand was enough. Post has since been edited
