Did this come as much out of the blue for anybody else as it seemed for me?
Quote: ThatDonGuyResorts World is announcing its opening on 6/24. A quick check of the room rates shows $185 and up for mid-August weekday, and $245 and up for mid-August weekend.

Give us some context. What did you expect the rates to be? I assume there are resort fees on top of those low rates?

You misunderstood my comment. I was not referring to the rates being out of the blue; I was talking about the opening being just two months from now. I hadn't heard a thing about the opening before yesterday.

Oh. Probably has something to do with pandemic restrictions being lifted or at least limited?
Quote: SOOPOOI plugged in random 3 midweek night stay in strip view room. After taxes and fees was only $2k. I am assuming NO ONE will actually pay that, right?
Only if there is a convention that week.

Give it a month or two after opening and theyll be struggling to fill their rooms. The location is never going to warrant those prices.
There is a reason Encore rooms usually go for cheaper than Wynn rooms even though Encore is nicer.... location, location, location.
A couple highlights I remember:
- There are three hotel brands operating together.
- The hotel exterior is a giant video screen which has been testing / operating for a couple months.
- Theyre gonna have a 40 table poker room - which will be the biggest in Vegas. I believe the manager used to run Wynns room.
- They havent done any landscaping or roadwork yet.
I just saw a tweet from Resorts World Catskills (upstate NY).
Theyre doing a job fair. 500+ job openings.
Considering they reopened post covid on 9/9 (except the poker room), this smells like a lot of their staff are getting transferred to LV.

All the more reason to follow Vital Vegas on Twitter and podcasts.

Quote: JohnnyQI glanced at an e-mail announcement. Methinks there are 3 separate hotels there, pricey, pricier, and priciest.
Only thing I can add is that the three hotels [Hilton, Conrad, Crockfords (part of LXR)] are different tiers of the Hilton Brand. So if you have Hilton points, you can stay at any of the three for free independent of casino comps. Though I am seeing resort fees are still charged.
I may burn some points to try it out for a fall trip.
PS:Hilton points also good for Virgin (aka Hard Rock), Waldorf Astoria (aka Mandarin Oriental), Tropicana (aka Tropicana)
Apparently they haven't flicked the switch to activate them yet. I plugged in Sun June 13 - Wedn June 16 just to see what the point redemption levels would be.Quote: chevyOnly thing I can add is that the three hotels [Hilton, Conrad, Crockfords (part of LXR)] are different tiers of the Hilton Brand.
July 16-18
Conrad 78,000 per night
Crockfords 95,000 per night
Hilton 66,000 per night

I guess, but really, Vegas IS your state. Otherwise, you're just Montana with a different name.

It doesn't have to be. Be careful where you stay and play, milk the comps!
Yes, no Resort Fee so GOOD for them. But not exactly bargain rack rate pricing, IMHO. I plugged in some random Sunday - Fri dates in May and saw this ( te image may display a little small perhaps, it starts at $ 113 per night ):Quote: VegasriderWho knows, with more hotel rooms becoming available, maybe some resorts will start low balling the other properties or even eliminate the resort fees and paid parking. Virgin is one property I can think of but they are off the strip.
Did I mention I love the new "Insert my Picture" feature ?

I assume you are talking about the casinos on the strip?
Aren't off-strip joints still reasonably priced?
I haven't checked for several years because I haven't really felt the need to visit Las Vegas.
It was great the first couple of times, all the "newness," the glitz, the variety of things to choose from.
But then it became a known quantity, not really new, and thereby of less interest.
Much the same as a relationship with a lover: great in the beginning, the newness of it all, but after a bit ... well, you know: sometimes you just get tired of plowing the same old pea patch year after year.
Fact is, I wouldn't come to Las Vegas just to gamble, as the tribal casinos near me allow me to scratch that itch.
Hopefully the strip casinos will have some entertainment worth seeing.
Heck, I used to look forward to coming to Las Vegas just for the In n Out burgers, but now that's available nearby in Oregon.
There is a pinball machine in the video near the end (I think it is called Lucky 8?).
