What do you think?
1st guess; don't stand under it ;-?
Note: Genting Group is a Malaysian company. Pronounced with the G sound not the J sound according to locals I have spoken to.

Maybe they can lower it at midnight on New Year's Eve? (Or Chinese New Year's Eve, although that's not really a thing?)

Like the Stratosphere they should open it to bungee jumping. There's lots of girls a short distance away at the SLS that like to dangle from big balls.
Btw, that staircase/escalator across the street is as G as can be.
I mean, I heard it's been delayed again... are they moving away from the Asian theme or is that still the dominant idea? Any word on what games/entertainment/restaurants/etc. it will feature?

Current target for opening is late 2020. I understand the big tower with the lantern has been nixed in favor of a mix of smaller towers. Still Chinese themed.

Money laundering and visa operation?

Absolutely money laundering for Southern California bookies
It's crazy with all the info coming out
Resorts World was essentially laundering Ohtani's stolen money for bookies
Not a good look for Resorts World
Right out of the mini series Ozark

"Multiple sources also told ESPN that Resorts World is at the center of what federal authorities described in an affidavit as an investigation into "illegal sports bookmaking organizations operating in Southern California, and the laundering of the proceeds of these operations through casinos in Las Vegas"

Resorts World wasn't laundering the money, the interpreter's bookie was.
The interpreter stole the money and gave it to his bookie.
The bookie, who has been a known high roller for years, deposited that money into his account at Resorts World.
He gambled with it, and if he won, he would cash it out, effectively laundering it.
Unless Resorts World knew this guy was a criminal ahead of time, from their point of view he was just some regular high roller coming into their casino.

Isnt Resorts World supposed to know their best customers
To make sure a bookie or drug dealer isnt money laundering
Isnt the bookie a high roller due to his bookie operation
Isnt this the reason Scott Sibella was fired
Isnt this the reason Scott Sibella pled guilty

How do we know Resorts World didn't do their due diligence? The bookie doesn't have a criminal record and from other articles I've read it sounds like he had some money before doing the bookmaking.
The article you linked to said Resorts World is cooperating with the investigation, which is still ongoing. Sibella was fired and pled guilty because he *knew* there was something illegal going on. We don't know if anyone at Resorts World knew anything yet. If they did, they'll probably be fired and charged as well.
But in general I am not aware of any background check for cash (non credit) players.
