On one hand, it makes sense as you're not using anything that would necessitate the fee if you're a no-show.
On the other hand, it could be an excuse for the hotel to say, "This is why we don't include the resort fees in our rates."
If you know you're definitely not cancelling, then most hotels will acquiesce if you call and ask to be charged everything up front, just generally speaking.
Advance deposits are typically the first night's rate + tax.
Well, maybe if you pay them (chuckle). I seem to remember the conversation went sumptin' like 'thanks 2F, you're all good to go, come see us again soon'. Maybe they just use that line on us losers ;-(Quote: GWAEResort fees have always been added to the final bill upon check out.
I am not a high roller by any measurement. If they just happen to park a limo in your cul-de-sac on Friday afternoon just in case you want a scenic ride up into the mountains, that does not shout 'high roller'. Actually it shouts 'sucker' ;-)Quote: GWAEWell us low rollers certainly don't get that treatment.

Ewwww you live on a cul de sac
Booked the other half just now at nobu - comped but they took a credit card for Resort fees and it showed it was charging me 107 for the three days resort fee
Normally stay st Wynn and palazzo. Palazzo no credit card to book and a cash deposit of 150 per night stay-Wynn no credit card to book and host waives it at check in - I'm sure they don't waive everyone's but I always ask a host to do that prior to booking

That doesn't quite add up to me; you're known enough to them they'll comp Nobu (very rare for me to get that offered) and yet they charged a resort fee? You must be at least Diamond with them, right? In which case it will be waived if that's what the charge is for, and you ask. They can probably fix it on the phone from the room, certainly from the front desk.
OTOH, it's usual for all CET properties (in my experience) to require a credit card for check-in. Sometimes they put a hold on a deposit amount, then release it without actually taking the money out.
As you can see there is no charge for the room and I am only gold level so they do not waive the resort fees

Quite a good value considering hotels in NOLA usually go for $300-$500 during JF.

Ah, ok. You're gold. That matters, unfortunately. And they comped you Nobu. Wow!

I don't get the reference. Is there some stereotype that I don't know about?
