But the funniest was a guy carrying a big sign saying: "God says: 'Please don't go to Hell'." Alas I missed a chance to take a photo. I was going to upload it to Facebook with the caption "Nareed says: 'don't get me started'."
Other than that passing thought, I've left them strictly alone. To be fair, they're less pushy than some salespeople at the kiosks. I respect a soft sell any time. But I did have a thought: wouldn't it be great to introduce them to our own FrGamble? Such a meeting would make for an interesting discussion IMO ;)

"CONCUBINE OF THE WHORE!" most of them will probably scream.
Good fun.
I've made this point before, including with the Holy Rollers on my radio show, so my apologies to those who have heard my opinion on this already.
People just laughed and blew her off.
Apt.
Quote: MrVThere was a loud woman evangelizing on Fremont last Sunday.
Cool Hand Luke Law: Anyone a loud talking spends a night in the box.

You can see the Fremont marquee in the background.
I also saw a guy carrying a rather big wooden cross emblazoned with "Are You Ready?" on the horizontal part.
Quote: wrongwayI respect anyone using their right to free speech. I think that is going to be a very important right to keep alive in the coming years. I certainly don't agree with these folks or most other's proclaiming their beliefs in the street, but certainly agree with the right to do it even though it's annoying to me and probably to most others.
I would be willing to consider a slight reduction in our right to free speech if, in limiting it slightly, we could constitutionally ban / criminalize begging / panhandling.

I don't mind them carrying signs, preaching or looking for new recruits. So long as they're civil about it, that is. So far most of them are. Certainly they're less annoying than pushy salespeople.
But I think it's funny. Despite the hype, publicity and buzz, Vegas is for the most part all about good, clean fun. Things like gambling, cheap drinks and shows, plus sight-seeing and shopping. anyone looking for a den of "sinners," blackguards and ruffians, ought to go to Washington DC and/or state capitals.

If I believed this I would think it would be a moral imperative to try to prevent as many other people from going there as possible. For the same reason I would pull a child out of the street about to be hit by a bus, I would also approach random strangers and do whatever I could to detour their direction towards hell.

I have the same opinion on orthodox Jews, reformed are just fooling themselves.
As a believer, my one issue with these people is that they tend to be legalistic. Smoking, drinking recreationally, and gambling have the ability to become sinful but are in no way directly against God on their own.

I think it's more funny that a citizen of Mexico, in the USA, is complaining about an invasion ;)
Everyone should be welcome here and they should be able to say whatever the fuck they want...with the exception of "fire!" in a crowded theatre, of course.
Quote: RogerKintRight, but it IS called "Sin City", so they figured they'd start there?
It's like Halloween. People pretend being wicked and get drunk while having a good time.

Shh! I established the beachhead and came back for reinforcements. But you're going to blow the whole operation wide open! :P
So banning urban camping or panhandling is easier.

The Hispanics are where the Poles, Germans, Irish and Jews were before.
Just the current wave in an unending wave of immigrants to the Land of Milk and Honey.
And who can blame them?

This is a great quote.

And you have great taste in quotes.

There is also the question of what kind of witnessing is effective. Standing on a street corner with a sign or approaching random strangers might not have the highest success rate. In fact, those things may look crazy and repel people more than save them.

This is the big problem I have with a lot of religion, the attitude of "thou shalt not" do this and that when the reality is that doing so in moderation is just fine. I don't think any rational deity is going to condemn me or anyone else to hell for having a Bacardi and Coke while playing blackjack. Besides, we have freedom of religion in this country, so if something goes against your religion, just don't practice it.
