Another thing is I may have more fund avaiable next year. So i thought I'd splurge a little and stay somewhere cheap for 10-12 days, and then something luxurious for 3-5 days. Which would be the best choices for the latter? I like casinos that don't require a loooooooong walk from the elevator to the front door.
Quote: NareedFor my next vegas trip and WoVCon ]I[, I'm of two minds on where to stay. On the one hand, in four prior trips I've stayed at a different palce each time (in order: Sahara, IP, Rio and 4 Queens). On the other hand, I'm planning on staying 2 full weeks (airline schedules) and the 4 Queens does allow bookings for that long a time (some places don't allow booking stays longer than 7 days).

For luxury, I'd have to recommend the Wynn/Encore or the Venetian/Palazzo. If you like old-fashioned rich grandma decor, the Bellagio.
My personal favorite is the Venetian, but that's just a matter of personal taste. I like the high ceilings and all the replica old Italian art. Best restaurants on the strip, too. B&B is my fave. The smallest Venetian suite is pretty nice; nicer than a higher-end room in most hotels.
Quote: BozNothing wrong with Paris, CP or Planet Hollywood. All are a step up from Rio, but CP will cost you. The problem with Venetian or Wynn is you are looking at an average of $200 plus a night with no playing history because weekends are so high. If a clean comfortable room is all you want, you have many options, and I would not eliminate any of them yet.
Agreed, but the request was for "luxury", not just "clean and comfortable".
Yes, you have to pay for luxury. If you didn't, everyone would stay there :)

Thank you for pointing that out. I'd ahve stumbled on it, but now I don't ahve to :)
See, Interjet, for now, flies to vegas on Sundays and Thursdays. I'd planned a Sunday arrival and departure, but then the second stay would be during the weekend. Now I should change my plans for Thursdays, thus having the second stay at the expensive place mid-week, when it's cheaper.

Oh, sure. I just thought I'd enjoy a few days of expensive, decadent luxury. besides, I might just decide to work on my writing those days. A quiet, luxurious room should help ;)
The Palazzo
For Slum:
Super-8 @ Ellis Island
You have to stay in the RUSH Tower, which is and has always been NO SMOKING since it was built.
A Deluxe Corner Suite or better. A beautiful King sized bed, large sitting area, spacious bath and a view with windows on 2 of the 4 sides.
As you already know, you're right smack in the middle of Downtown. A minute walk from the GN Casino floor to the elevator of the RUSH Tower.
Golden Nugget
During the week, rates are $140 or so plus taxes...with NO RESORT FEES tacked on.
Again, the only place my wife will stay now!
Quote: NareedHow "nice" is the Golden Nugget? I'd still likely want to play Downtown, so that would be more convenient.
Rooms at the GN are equivalent to upper mid-market strip hotels, the newer tower, perhaps even a bit better. Marble floors, separate tub/shower, flat screens are standard. The pool has a slide that goes through a tank of sharks. Pretty cool.
If you are considering the Wynncore, I would advise you to stay at the Wynn, and not the Encore if walking from the elevator to the door is not your thing. Also, the location of the outdoor club, and the volume of the music, makes some Encore rooms a bit "thumpy".
I'm not looking to slum it, at all. Last year I got a decent deal of around $950 for 12 nights at the 4 Queens plus airfare. I'd be content to stay at the 4 Queens again, or at the MSS (less Fremont ST noise).
Do the Wynn and Venetian charge resort fees? If so, do they include WiFi?

My wife and I stayed at the Wynn in June. They charge a resort fee, about $25 + tax, includes WiFi.

FYP
It is too bad that they finally fixed their website so you can no longer book the Spa Suites for $59. Two story 1400 sq ft with spiral staircase, spa, steam showers, dining area, wet bar, living room, and upstairs bedroom. For the past few years you could book the Spa Suite for the same price as their cheapest available room.

FYP = Fixed Your Post (I had to google it); Thanks!

That's a dealbreaker for me.

I've gotten emails from the Venazzo for less per night, so even assuming resort fees they'd come out roughly even.
Any notion on suites at other Downtown properties?

I freaking love the El Cortez
Luxury: Bellagio
really like on the luxury end of the spectrum. Now,
when the Wiz's crack team of fact checkers, spell checkers,
check checkers, and check facters get around to proof
reading it, read it and see what you think of this
MYSTERY property that I thought was pretty pretty
nice.
