Hello wizzard,
I have been recently in "Las Vegas Casino" in Budapest, and they a very interesting side bet:
The normal "lucky ladies"(or something similar). The feature is you can add the money you earned from the side be to the current hand, before hittin/standing but after you see your cards(and the dealer's card)!
In that way, you can actually increase your "bet" with the winnings instead of taking it. If for example I have dealt 20 and the dealer dealt 6, I can add the winning from the side bet to make my regular bet be 3 times the original.
My question:
Should players take this side bet? Does is lower the house edge compared to just playing BJ as usual?
I know that side bets are "sucker bets", but maybe the option to add the winnings to the regular bet makes this better option?
In addition, you(and all the readers) should know that the casino in Budapest is actually very nice. It is small and crowded, but non smoking and low minimum(equivalent to 2-3$).
I am almost sure I saw full pay decues wild there! But strangely, this was for about 0.1$ for coins 1-4, but for max pay(5 coins) you need to insert 30$ which is really pricey! It also advises you which cards to hold, but does it badly(I think was designed to give bad advices). For example holding deuce and an ace withouth anything else instead of holding just the deuce.

Hi lavifighter, welcome to the forums!
Are you referring to the "House Money" side bet? It pays you for different hands and then you have the option to add those winnings to your main bet, which you clearly should do if you have a hand like 20. This side bet is like any other side bet, and comes with a (what I consider) high house edge. If you want to play it for fun, go for it, but ALL side bets are sucker bets without doing more to exploit them (such as card counting, etc).
I think this is the link to all of the BJ Side Bets the Wiz has analyzed: https://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/appendix/8/

Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Thank you for the comment. Yes, that is the bet I referred to.
As you said, this side bet is also a "sucker bet". It is way better than any side bet I know about, but still playing normally is better.
I strongly recommend you(and everyone on this forum) to go the casino if you fly to Budapest. It is really good with very low minumum bets, much lower than vegas(I will report on my recent and first trip to vegas soon, and will update on some mistakes on the "craps survey" for example). But I am limited to 2 new topics on the first month...
Again, thank you.
