We were there a couple years ago, and are making plans to return this fall.
We thought the casino was small, but decent enough. They have craps, BJ, 3 Card, American Roulette, UTH, LiR, Caribbean. Machines are a little tight, but not outrageous. I didn't play any VP.
Whereas Vegas is a gaming town with some resorts and sights, Atlantis is a resort with a casino as a second thought to the beach and other amenities.
Food is insanely expensive, and just okay, not great. We are considering doing a meal plan this time.
If I think of anything else I'll post it. We had a great time there.

You'll need to be more specific. Reno, Nevada? Or Paradise Island, Bahamas?

I'm going to assume you spoke of the Bahamas version.
Bahamas is great, lots of fun and quite a bit to do if you stray away from the resort. Downtown Nassau is very close and you can get much better and cheaper food there. There are also two new resorts on the island, Bimini Bay (Resorts World) and Baha Mar (not sure if it is open yet?). There are also a few other casinos on the island. NOTE: No locals are allowed to gamble in any of these casinos.
As for Atlantis itself, the gaming is relatively good with OK dealers, OK table games and OK slots. The limits were a little high when I was last there but that may have changed after the recession, not sure. The resort is nice, lots to do. The aquarium is nice and the beaches around are delightful. If you like diving and snorkling there is a lot to do. You can also swim with milk sharks or wade in the shallows with stingrays.
All in all, Bahamas is a nice place to vacation, depending on what you are looking for.
I would surely recommend it!

I didn't want to start a brand new thread for this post, so I revived this one from more than three years ago. The subject is the long-stalled Baha Mar project in Nassau, Bahamas.Quote: TomspurThere are also two new resorts on the island, Bimini Bay (Resorts World) and Baha Mar (not sure if it is open yet?). I just stumbled across a few on-line items that suggest that there is finally some activity of significance. I have no info on the reliability of these sources. The first one indicates that the casino has received a license approval and that there will be a soft opening later this month. It also alludes to some of the political problems and alledged improprieties, some of which are discussed further in this one. A third item that overlaps these two a bit is here.
Each of these articles [sic] are from web sites that purport to be newspapers or such, but for all I know they could be the kind of newspaper that a guy publishes in his bedroom.
Does anyone have reliable info on Baha Mar?
Edit: Here is another article from about three weeks ago that includes a reverse-chronological-order summary of the trials and tribulations of this development over the past dozen years or so.

Can't help you with Baha Mar, but can offer an economical way to visit Atlantis.
Across the street from Atlantis is a resort called Comfort Suites. Rooms there come with kitchenette and, more importantly, come with full ground passes to Atlantis. Just have a couple breakfast and lunches and you'll save over 50% for the trip.
