From Judge Judy.

A couple are in a casino for the mans job interview. He leaves for the interview and leaves some money in the machine for her to play. She plays awhile, and her wins keep the game going long after the $20 worth of spins. She wins $1300 and signs a form for taxes. When her boyfriend gets back, she keeps $400 and gives him the rest.
She wants him to pay the taxes on the $1300 but he says he gave her $400 of the money that was won with his money on his machine.
JJ does not think the money belongs to whoever hits the button.

I dont know how JJ ruled but he should pay the taxes on $900, the money he got.

A real boyfriend would pay it all.

Was it actually brought up? That may be correct in the jurisdiction involved.

And if not, I may be a mistake on the part of the litigants, not the judge.

The girl said he told he to keep the money in the machine but Judy said she didn't believe it. She says she is stuck paying all the taxes. He said she could have used the $400 for taxes but she spent it. JJ had no sympathy for her. I've seen her rule contrary to the jurisdiction the case happened in. The other judge goes by the state's rules. JJ makes her own rules.

The way the JJ show works is that both parties are paid in full and in return they go on the show.

So in case you're wondering they both won.

It's show biz.

Next case.

For reasons I've never understood, they show clips of NYC throughout the show even though it is filmed in California. Many people think it is NY-based.

Judge Judy is from Miami where she was a judge. The show was originally done in NYC following the People's Court. Then it moved to LA.

Long after they moved to California, they continued to use the NYC scenes.

Cheers was shot in LA. What city was that bar supposed to be in? Wasn't it Boston?

Here's another one: CSI Miami. A lot of it was shot in LA.

Is there a link to the case. I would like to view it.

It didn't pop up on YouTube. Although she has so many videos it's difficult to parse through.

I had recorded it. If I didn't erase it, it should give me the episode #, but I won't know until tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's from season 17.

Should be episode 233, give or take one or two.
