🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ STARE -- I had hope for a hole in one for a second there
⬜⬜🟨⬜🟩 CHILD -- Obviously a probing word.
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 STAID -- I'm not complaining about a 3, but this is the second word in a row that I probably have never said in my life.

Thanks for posting this. After all of the people I've seen solve it, I was beginning to think I was the only one not familiar with the word.Quote: Wizard... as I have never heard of the word duvet before.
Naturally, I had to look it up.
noun
British
a soft quilt filled with down, feathers, or a synthetic fiber, used instead of an upper sheet and blankets.
I even was wrong about the pronunciation. I suspected it to be dooVAY.. Nope. It's DOOvay. The accent is on the first syllable.

I had a discussion about yesterday's word with a friend, asking if she knew what it meant, and she did. I then bet $2 her 19-year-old daughter wouldn't know. She did too. Pass the dunce cap.

I am sure you heard it and knew it at some point in your life. We're growing old, Mike. Today's word was much more of a surprise to me -- I knew the word, but had a hard time believing it could be the answer and was looking for anything else that would work.Quote: Wizard

My guess is that more females would be familiar with the term than males. Personally, I had not heard of the term until I was well into adulthood. I'd imagine if you made that bet with a male friend and his son, you'd have won!Quote: WizardQuote: EdCollinsSpoiler comment regarding Wizard's last answer, regarding Wordle Puzzle #641
